SIL did a couple quilts a couple years ago when I visited. I sent her a quilt pattern last year of a bicycle with a bunch of flowers in a basket. We are going to work on it…they are both riders…must have 10 bikes including a tandem. So would look great in the entry of the garage apartment area…will post when finished.
Wilma, it's so nice that you have a place with family instead of using short term rental. I hope you and your SIL have a great time together over the next few months. Is she a quilter?
As soon as this needlepoint has it's last step completed ( a bit of overstitching in long straight stitch for accent), l'll get it framed and start my 2022 PHD projects.
Well, it’s amazing how the UFOs find their way to the surface. When packing found a Santa needlework project. Guess I will have finish it a frame it. Found a Christmas goose all finished that just needs to be framed. Pretty much settled here at SILs.
Agggh! I'm nearing the end of the needlepoint project. Only a bit of white blossons left to stitch, and dangerously low on the white. So l dug down deep in the project bag and found...an old knitting UFO! This was meant for my youngest grandd ( now age 5, lol). I'd completely forgotten that l'd started this! It's the exact yarn and pattern l'd used for her mom 46 yr. ago. So, looks like l have another project to finish in 2022. It'll be put in our family cedar chest for a future generation
You're making good progress. After Bremen, are you going through Atlanta? Or driving around it? We did our best to avoid it...always so much traffic! Hang in there. I'm sure your SIL will let you rest up a day or so before she puts you to work, lol.
Zoe, I consulted on software implementations for HR, payroll, tax and occasionally benefits. We either upgraded or installed new systems. Took early retirement in 1996, got bored after 6 months. Consulted off/on for 16 years. A lot of it was from home and every 4-6 weeks at the clients. Loved it.
Yes, Riana, River walk at San Antonio was nice. My hubby and I were surprised at how small the Alamo was compared to what we thought/imagined. We were fortunate to also tour NASA in Clear Lake TX, Galveston area and the older homes. Lots of good memories.
We are in Vicksburg Mississippi for the night. Very chilly. Lovely hotel room. Tomorrow drive to Bremen GA then next day our final destination….we are tired.
Wilma, what type of consulting did you do ? I am glad you got to know the city, I miss it sometimes, but kind of enjoy the people where I am now better.
Riana, A city closer to where I was , Las Colinas they copied the River Walk, but it never caught on like the one in San Antonio.
We loved the River Walk in San Antonio. The Alamo was an interesting sight, but not as pretty as the river.
Zoe, I have spent a lot of time in Dallas area. My uncle and a few cousins lived there. Plus I spent 2+ years working in TX as a consultant. Think my favorite area was San Antonio. Will have to return and visit Waco as I want to see Magnolia Silos. We moved our stay to Forrest City AR instead of Shreveport LA.
Weather has been great so far. Obviously getting colder as we head east. We brought layers. Sweaters and then warmer fleece coats for over top. We will definitely have to shop when we get to NC.
Wilma, it's colder where l am! Hope you have a good heater and that you thought to bring a good heavy coat with you. If not, layers will have to do. I don't see any big storms in the forecast for your route. Drive safe.
Wilma,
I wish you could take a few days in Dallas area, I grew up there. I used to live in The Colony. So much to look at in the area. Be careful in Vicksburg, crime is very high there.. if you can stay a big further out , try to do so. Be careful of the black ice with all of these storms. Enjoy, the town you are going to looks wonderful !
Riana, I will take a look. Thank you. I have just been busy and so why I have not been posting much.
Sink is stopped up, think the liquid declogger made it worst ! Will have to have someone come out and clean it out. I was really hoping these guys who we have used could come as they are reasonable, but they cannot come till Wednesday and I think this needs to be done asap.
Got a bid to do the driveway with pavers, The questions is should we? I read that if someone was walking with a cane up one, then it could be a fall hazard. But then, the steps in the garage would probably to safer. The pavers cost more up front, but increase the value of the home. What is wrong with this idea?
No Riana, not there yet. We are currently resting in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Tomorrow we head to Midland, Texas. Following night in Dallas, Texas. Then a night in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Final night will be in Berman, Georgia. Will wake and then drive to Mooresville, North Carolina. This will be home with SIL until late 2022 when home will be finished.
So far the weather has been OK. Had a bit of rain today after leaving Chandler, Arizona and then again just before we got to Las Cruses. Very chilly. Morning we expect 29 degrees.
Zoe, what l learned is, in the discussion " what are you working on..." you can add your own posting of what you're doing my tapping on top right corner of my openning comment and starting a new " thread"... then when someone comments, we can answer them by using the " reply" box. Anyone can add new didcussions to the group by tapping the ' new discussion +" along top of page. Don't forget to start an album over there.
It seems like on the other site that one has to "reply" to the post in order to respond, which I guess is not a bad thing, just you have to read each post and reply to each post instead of just "responding" as we do here.
I am glad all of the fabrics worked well for you. It is a fun quilt !
Wilma...are you there yet? ( S. Carolina). Hope you had a safe journey.
Zoe, l couldn't believe how well the colours for the back worked out with my center panel and your cute touristy fabric donation ( thanks again!) ...l used pretty much all of it, BTW, only a tiny strip is left. Ya, l like the setup here as well, except for when it breaks down and we can't log in, or things go missing. We'll get used to our new home. Any questions on how the new site works? I'm learning navigation tips from the creator, and can always ask.
Riana, your quilt is so fun !!
I like the way this site is set up, But I am happy we have a place to continue.
Really cute Riana. Someday (in my dreams) I should make one…
I like it, Riana
