The backing for Liz's quilt arrived. It's not the same shade as hers...(so hard to choose on an online site). But actually the back of the fabric looks fine, even though a shade bluer. I may have to add some other fabric since it's just barely the exact width as top. I'll figure something out with some creative piecing, just the way Liz would if she were doing it.
What a lovely quilt top Liz made. I love the fabrics. I am sure whatever you choose will be perfect Riana. So thoughtful of you to finish the quilt for her grandd. I am sure it will be treasured.
Liz had changed the center star to a simpler square / cross design. This gives it a more modern look than the pattern, ( Seamless Serenity). I noticed one of my cat's Snowball, sneeking around & peeking under the guest bed l'd laid the quilt on. I guess he smelled Macska's presence, so l quickly folded the top and hung it up.
I can imagine you almost lost it when looking at the quilt. It is very pretty, she did a nice job. I am sure her grandd will cherish it.
Elizabeth's son sent me the quilt top she'd made for her grandd. and fiancé. I 'm afraid he didn't send the wide backing she'd purchased, (pretty sure she got it from Connecting Threads), but since l never saw it on our video sew sessions, l'm afraid l'll just have to buy something that's suitable and hope Liz would approve. I hate the idea of asking her son to go thru her fabrics measuring...he has had too much to take care of already. I nearly cried when l saw the neat circle patch she'd appliqued where her snips accidently cut the cloth. I'll be quilting a small heart on that spot for sure♡.
Chris, it's nice to get other time sensitive projects finished and off to their recipients. We quilters always tend to do our own quilts last.
Chris, what cute socks. You have bee busy.
Great block Riana! I have been working on some other projects not on my UFO list. Currently I am quilting a Dream Big Panel as a gift for my best friend. That needs to be done this month because I want to do all my shipping well before Thanksgiving. I spent a couple of days last week making Christmas Stockings for my family (sons and their wives and children and my husband and me) and a few for friends. I also made a baby quilt earlier this month for a cousin who is due in December. I plan to get back to work on stitching my Baltimore Christmas quilt and to quilt the brown and pink Valley Blossoms quilt before year end. BUSY BUSY.
I'm taking it off the design wall today for a " time out". No new inspiration, and l have another project that needs to get moving for QOV. I think the problem is we no longer have our rv or our trailer...the quilt is crazy colorful, so not going to fit in with house decor. Not sure where it'll get used now.
Cute block, Riana. Bet your quilt will look great when finished.
WOW! Riana, I was not expecting to hear that news. How very sad for her family and friends. She was such a kind person and will be missed.
I am saddened to hear about Elizabeth, she will be greatly missed.
Wow! What a shock! I don't even have words. Prayers for her family being lifted up.
Oh Riana, what a shock and so sad. Am very glad that her daughter was there. She was such a wonderful, friendly person and I so enjoyed our chats on FaceTime. She will be missed by all.
My friends, l bear sad , sad news today. I received a message from Suzalie, Elizabeth's daughter. Liz passed away in the early morning hours. The family is in shock, and we have lost a great quilter and very dear friend.
Today l put all my travel blocks on the design wall. lt's going to be bigger than first planned for sure, lol. Don't you just love it when a quilt starts whispering in your ear?
How neat your block in Raina ! Elizabeth, I love your smaller quilt .
I think I got a friend into quilting. but, I know her income, so I suggested smaller scale quilts for fun.
I think you pretty much got California covered, Riana! Great job.
