Another great quilt Kris! I love using minky backing, I just wish it came in 108 inch wide pieces so it didn't have to be pieced for larger bed-sized quilts.

How satisfying, Riana, to be nearing the end of such a large project.

I am working on grandsons quilt #3 right now. All the strips are sewn and sub-cut, now I am putting them in the "puzzle piece" order the designer gave me, then I can start sewing them. I didn't know we could post photos of quilts that aren't on our PHD list here. Here is the one I just finished for my grandson last week. He was so happy when I gave it to him and texted me that he loves it just this week! This is an Eileen Wright pattern called SuperNova.

Your second grandson's quilt will be a hit, Kris! How old is he?

Liz are all those flannels from the estate sale? (?l can't comment on main ufo page...there seems to be a glitch today).

Riana - Visions of the East is not going to get done this year.  I will sandwich it while in AZ over the winter, and quilt it next summer.  Same with Jewel Box quilt.

For the rest of this year I'll be finishing a doll house quilt for 3 year old granddaughter for Christmas, quilting the Kaleidoscope, and an Ohio star table topper.

I must find another piecing project, though, or the doll house quilt is going to drive me nuts.  It's all applique which is my least favorite thing to do......but it's totally adorable, lol!

Thank you all for the kind words on the Planets quilt. I like working with minky and it was Riana who taught me how, lol.  The animal quilt has minky on the back, too.

I use a very thin cotton batting with it, and Olfa 505 spray to put it together.  Then I use my walking foot on the sewing machine and run several top to bottom and side to side lines with vanishing thread in the bobbin. That keeps it all together very nicely!  It's actually quite easy to quilt because the minky slides very easily.

Second grandson quilt finished.  I made a couple pillowcases out of some fun fabric I had acquired awhile ago.

That is so satisfying, I'm sure, to be able to finish your needlework project, Riana.  Keep it up now that the end is in sight.

I went to see the kitty I will be looking after.  She is beautiful - a long haired cat - mostly white with some brown and black.  She is so friendly, just like Macska.  She has an automatic feeder - fill it in the morning and it automatically opens at certain times.  Her dry food is composed of cubes and she gets 14 cubes for each feeding.  Then, there is the wet food and water.  The litter box is a big one and only has to be looked after every 2nd day.

I can see the end!

Too funny Kris, I am also making quilts for my grandsons. Also, all of them are going to be backed with Minky! I just finished cutting the strips for #3 of4 and delivered #2 today. I’m making them all large Bargello quilts. Figured they won’t outgrow them that way. Your planet quilt is….out of this world.

Cool quilt, Kris

Kris, the Planets Quilt will be a big hit with your grandson.  It is just out of this world!  And you used Minky on the back - did that make the quilting tricky?

I am going to sandwich a flannel quilt today.  And I have to remember that today is the puppy shower.

Cool planet material, Chris. And the quilting is just right.

One grandson quilt is done.  Top corner is folded over to show the backing - Minky, also in planets!!!  Now I'll start the other grandson quilt which is animals.

Beautiful quilt Kris! Your niece is a lucky girl.

Ive been working on projects that aren’t on my UFO list. I’m trying to get new big quilts for my 4 grandsons before the end of the year. Just finished Bargello #2 (needs trimming and binding) for my oldest grandson. I’ll post a photo on the main page here if anyone wants to see it.

I love that design, Kris. I have a similar design somewhere.

I really love Inman Park!  It's a great pattern.  Kris, you did a beautiful job on this quilt.  Your niece will love it!

Thanks, Riana!  I love using rulers for quilting.

Ginny - I'll take credit for Inman Park - used up a bunch of scraps for that one.  Tapestry is a kit from A Wing and a Prayer.  I love their stuff - they are super creative and design their fabrics as well as their quilts.  Only problem is they are expensive!

Kris, l love how you quilted that flower design in each block's center. What a great way to use scraps/ strips!

Comment by Ginny Andersen on September 1, 2021 at 4:39pm

Wow, Kris! Both Tapestry and Inman Park are beautiful!

Inman Park quilt is done! It will be gifted to a niece in October when she joins us for the family reunion.
