Inspiring Quilters, Stitch by Stitch
Barbara, congratulations! What a beautiful quilt! I'm doing well too - I'm down to 158 UFOs.
Hurray!!! My 4th UFO is done!!!
The quilt is out on the sun-porch at 35 degrees. May have to move furniture again.
More than half way finished machine quilting "Colourful Kitties". I used Masterpiece 50/2 thread instead of Aurifil 50/2 Mako thread. It isn't quite as nice but the dark aqua thread shows up well.
Woohoo, Barbara! Looking forward to photo of it all finished :-))
Wow! Barbara and Zoe, great progress! I better quit this machine and get on the other one.
The pink and blue stars and hexies will be done today and will try to get the binding on also.
Thank you all for the sweet comments on the quilt ! Yes, Riana, it did feel very good to get that one off. I told Beth, all is fine the kids will be happy to get their quilts anytime.. they have other things to keep them busy, so I am not at all concerned when they get them.
Wilma, I wish the Eye guy would have been able to give me something to hold my left lower eye lid from folding over so my eye lashes are touching my eyeball. He suggested surgical tape to tape the eye lid to my nose. The tape irritated my eye something awful.
I sewed a lot this morning - lots of Elephants & Cat blocks, some 6 inch blocks and some 12 inch scrappy backing squares. I haven't started machine quilting Colourful Kitties yet. My goal is to have it done by the end of next week.
Thanks Riana and Liz. Liz, will keep you in thoughts and prayers on the 16th. The frustrating part is knowing this may happen again. Also need to see an eye surgeon regarding eyelids. It appears my left eyelid is covering half my eye. Crazy. But one step at a time. Right now I use a lid lifter that seems to help....looks like a sticky eyebrow that adheres to lid and keeps it elevated. Hope I can sew the appliqués to quilt this week.
Wilma,so glad you found your hexies! Where were they hiding? Can't wait to see how the motocross quilt finishes up. l'm sure you'll sail through the surgery just fine and all will be crystal clear again...just be patient and do as doc says.
Wilma, I can sympathize about your eye. I am going to have eye surgery on Nov. 16 and my eye really hurts. I can't read the newspaper. I only look at the headlines. I can't hand applique, but I can watch T.V. as long as I close my eyes and rest them and just listen when my eye hurts and waters too much.
Hello all....sounds like all are busy. Zoe, your quilt is beautiful and the border just perfect for the quilt. So glad you finished.
Mama Duck, I have been doing a little on one of my quilts. Did manage to get pictures copied onto fabric and are ready to applique on. Once that is done, I have one border and off to quilters to finish. Have not worked on GFG but finally found the missing hexies. Did fill in with easy projects to avoid eye strain and frustration.
Need to have an eye procedure done. Have trouble seeing and already had an eye appointment scheduled. Went yesterday and they scheduled a YAG procedure on left eye. All other eye assessments are postponed until later. I am surprised as my cataract surgery was almost 2 years ago. Had to have the YAG procedure done on right eye shortly after procedure. Appears my body likes to make a film and cover the lenses implanted. This is crazy. Covered up right eye to read chart and everything is foggy. Golden years not so golden.
Zoe, your quilt turned out beautifully. The border is perfect!
I'm with you, Gail...still working on small projects.
Perfect border for your quilt, Zoe! I love it when a plan comes together! (Picture George Peppard waggling his cigar!) LOL
Zoe, I love the border fabric, looks like it was specially made for your quilt. What's the chance of finding something that matches so beautifully? Your friends are going to love that quilt, I know I would.
Elizabeth, I have always heard that what's old is new again, and it's true with my oldest UFOs, some of them are pretty old. Last night I was putting binding ona table runner that I finished recently. I bought it at a garage sale a quilting friendhad about six or seven years ago and she had it for about five years and never got to it. It was an old Thimbleberries kit from the early 2000s.
Riana, I haven't forgotten about all my PHDs, I'm still not able to do much on the larger projects but I am finishing a lot of the small things so I'll be ready to go on the big ones. This Duckie is just on the slightly disabled list for now, but I'll be back in play soon.
Zoe, congratulations! You are a zippy quilter! You got that quilt done fast - great work. I'm still am cleaning the bathroom today. I covertly put 2 books on Hubby's Kindle for his birthday. (Both of them I want to read too.) He is a voracious reader and they will be a surprise because he does not know how to get books for himself.
Zoe, perfect border fabric! Riana, I won't worry today about down the road and all these UFOs. Today, I'm just thinking about cleaning my bathroom and my sandwiching deadline of this Sunday. And having some fun!
