I have already done all those things girls. called, text, wrote letters. offered to take over  the exchange. Facebooked. I even look on google earth to make sure her area was not affected by fires. nothing. I am going to assume we will never see those blocks and move on. maybe later we can have a do- over....an even better one...someday.

Mary-Anne-Knowing that she is back online and posting about teaching really upsets me. How can a person treat others that way? I know her phone number is publicly posted on google and have been tempted to call her and ask her to just put everything in the mail to me or anyone else here and we can complete the swap. I really was looking forward to making a wall hanging with these blocks for my sewing room. How hard is it to put blocks in the stamped and addressed envelopes? So disappointing.

OK ladies - I am not in for St Paddy's but perhaps another block swap in the New Year ......and Carla you are NOT too harsh - I put the following message on a FB page today......................

Mary-Anne Buist

Mary-Anne Buist Well Mary I see you have commented on this link and that you are running classes in Jerome AZ............It would be nice if you would honor your commitment to AQS and mail out all the blocks we sent you from the dress swap which you coordinated.............A lot of unhappy people - and if you are too busy to send them yourself - mail them all to me - send me a note and I will give you my address and I'll be happy to mail them out.

Would love to do another block swap, maybe after the first of the year.  Maybe a 12 inch block this time.

Lisa, yes I would be interested in doing a different block...perhaps after the first of the year.

Carla, you are not being too harsh. I hope nothing serious has happened. I was in the small project of the month exchange, and Mary did send those out. Do not remember who, but one of the folks in the 6” Sewing theme swap, actually sent a letter to Mary re the swap. Guess all we do now is wait and see what happens.

Anyone interested in doing a different block swap?

I don't think you are being harsh Carla. I thought long and hard before I began commenting about my feelings on the swap discussion thread. I know things can happen in people's lives that no one can foresee. I understand this would not be a priority in the midst of some personal crisis. However, I feel that her lack of communication, both before and after her planned vacation, shows a lack of concern or feeling responsible to follow through on a commitment. It really isn't about the blocks at this point. It is about the trust we place in people when they are hosting these events. We all live in different locations and need to be able to rely on others to meet the commitment they made and follow through.

I don't think you are being harsh, Carla.  I agree with your summary of where we have been and are.  I would be quite distressed if I encouraged others to join and this happened.

I was remembering a time when my secret sister didn't send me a card, gift, etc.  I got pretty perturbed and disappointed.  It turned out she was in the hospital and then under home health care.  If it were me I would have let someone know, at least I think I would.  Any way, I felt bad when it was happening to me and bad when I learned what happened.  I didn't want to make that mistake again.

Connie, when you say that is not the first time, are you speaking specifically about Mary or generally about swaps?

I'm still going to pray; it makes forgiving easier. And I was serious about gifting the other participants of this swap with a portion of my fabric.  It would make me happy to share, so you are not using your postage ...

Carla you are not being too harsh at all. Unfortunately this is not the first time this has happened.

these are my last words on this subject and then I am done and moving on to more fun subjects.

I hope you all are not misunderstanding. I certainly wish no ill will on Mary and I am dearly hopeful that nothing has happened to her. I certainly hope not that would be very sad. I even checked to see if she may have been affected by the fires.

I am carrying a lot of guilt and anxiety because I asked a minimum of half of the people personally to join this to fill the slots, told them how fun it would be, and asked for their time. so I feel obligated to find out what happened. they are asking. I know that at least one person has spoken to her directly and this was several weeks after all machines were fixed and that blocks would be shipping out.  the  conversation was that she simply decided to take a long vacation with family and leave phones out of the picture.

The complaints are that no communication has been attempted. we were not told that there would be an extended vacation and blocks would be delayed until after it which would have been nice and even simple to do.  We were not told anything. that's the issue. also a different swap that was started after this one was sent back out in the middle of this absence which suggests that vacation is over and still no communication has been attempted.

I would have gladly donated my blocks  if they were needed. they are not something special to me...that's not it. communication is key if you are to host a swap. that is all. in a world of so many technologies it is hard to imagine that not a word could be sent out. and it is also not the first time it has happened.

I apologize to anyone who feels I am being too harsh. I am just trying to find answers for all with no luck and none in sight.
