Hi all,
I haven't been on for ages. And frankly, I haven't even done any sewing unless in a class. I'm in the midst of getting my new (larger) sewing room ready, and it's taking longer than expected. As soon as I finish painting the room, which hopefully will be next week, the room will move fast. I'm looking forward to sewing and quilting in the new room.
Actually I don't use cornstarch.
The recipe I found uses cheap vodka, water and essential oils (optional).
I figured the cost for a 18 oz bottle is LESS than $1.00
I never thought about what starch is made of,but now that you mention it,it is only cornstarch and water plus a couple of drops of essence for a nice smell.Very interesting, will have to test it out.I do not purchase cans of starch but buy the large bottles of starch which I then put a small amount in spray bottle and add water, this usually lasts for months, and the cost is only $3.69/
Has anyone tried making their own starch?
I found a recipe online for making my own and LOVE how well
how well it works.
I love the Best Press but just can't afford to buy it. So that is
what prompted to search for a recipe to make my own.
To Carolyn Hoxton 1/4/13 @2:55PM, I had to compliment you on the dress below, wonderful job, I bet she will be so pleased to wear it a lot, just adorable, keep posting pics, great to see what others are doing.
I would love to hear what everyone is doing. Right now I'm making summer dresses for my granddaughter.
Hi everybody, its been awhile since I was on this site, busy, busy, busy!
I am presently working with leather, making clutches for a client. It is new to me and I had to read a lot about it on the internet. Any helpful hints from you all would be appreciated. I am learning a lot, but sometimes one expert says to do this when another says to do that! ARGHH!! Any helpful hints will be appreciated.
One of these days, Deborah, I will post more pix. Would love to see what the rest of you are doing, too.
Carolyn, I know how you feel about sewing! Yesterday was a poopy day for me. I have 7 totes to make, started working on one of them, and everything seemed to go wrong, couldn't find the color thread I used, made the straps too narrow, so after the 4th booboo, I walked away for the day.
Andrea, I am sure we would love to see your work, too! I see that we have 24 members, where is everybody! Lets get this going! Love to hear from all of you!
>Hi all,
