Inspiring Quilters, Stitch by Stitch
Do you ever make leader and ender quilts? Do you use scraps or coordinate the fabrics? I have done both. I am getting ready to start a new one and I think all this recent discussion on scrap bins (thank you Beth :)) is inspiring me to do a scrappy one this time.
I would love to know what other quilters do for leader and ender quilts.
If you do not know what I mean, or if you have not tried it, check out this link http://quiltville.com/leadersenders.shtml

Love this. I'm surprised at how much background fabric it uses for sashing, but it is big. I also like the one at the top in her header.
Ooooh - I do like this! I have loads of 2" squares that I've been using as leaders/enders. This would be a great way to use them!
The leader and ender system works great. I used it to piece the leftover fabric from the XBlock ruler for my border. It is ready to go even before I have to make it work. It truly does save time on tedious blocks.
I cut more scraps last night. Why doesn't the pile go down!? LOL
well,Vickie...when you cut one in half...you get 2!
Ha Ha Ha! You have a point there. I'm trying to remember to cut them as I make them. Maybe eventually I'll get them under control.
When that happens, it will be a party for sure!
I am doing a Leader/Ender quilt in conjunction with my current project.
The pattern is http://www.mccallsquilting.com/mccallsquilting/articles/Bakers_Doze...
My piecing is sort of a "crumb" and random thing to build the 6 1/2" X 12 1/2" units, which is working well. Don't know any of the other color plan yet, but I am doing it. This kind of piecing is very freeing.
I actually got out a drunkard path quilt that was cut up years ago out to do my leader and enders. I have a plastic jar next to my chair so when they are done, drop them right on in. Been assembling quilt tops lately so this works out real good.
