North Carolina Quilters

Talking with quilters from all over the world is amazing, but sometimes it's good to get to know other quilters closer to home. This group will allow us to get to know other quilters from North Carolina, share our favorite quilt shops, tips, techniques and maybe make some new friendships!

I put together a 3 day quilt retreat for friends (15 - 20) so it’s a relatively small retreat.  We have been going to Camp Dogwood at Lake Norman but they are going through many changes and I haven’t been ble to get any dates set for 2019 scheduled.…Continue

Hi Everyone!
Happy New Year! I think a retreat sounds like fun! I hope we can plan one sometime soon. Spending time with people who share my obsession would be awesome.

Hi Everyone,

Our guild goes to The Summit Environmental Education Center at Haw River State Park for our retreats. Its a good place for a retreat. Its reasonably priced and includes 3 meals and at least1 maybe 2 snacks a day. It is less than $300 for a 3 night stay. We have a huge room to sew in till the wee hours of the morning. The lighting stinks so you need to bring some of your own. But thats my only complaint. It is in North Guilford county so it is centrally located in the state. We stay in motel type rooms that are basically furnished. Meaning they have no tv, hair dryer, iron, things like that. But we spend the majority of our day in the sewing room. They do have bathrooms. 2 beds per room although single rooms are available as are handicapped rooms.

We usually get the liqour permit for $30 and bring wine.

There is a great Eastern Regional 4H Center that we use for quilt retreats.  Nice facility, good food and on the sound.  Price is reasonable too.  There may be other 4H facilities too that would work for a retreat.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Quilter friends! Our group has been sleepy lately! I think our resolution for 2015 should be to wake it up! Wouldn't it be cool if we could plan out own quilting retreat?! Anyone know how to go about doing that? It would be nice to get to know everyone for real!

Boo is right Camille.  I know there are quilters here in Fayetteville but I haven't really been confident enough to get out and about without fear of getting lost.  LOL
