Inspiring Quilters, Stitch by Stitch
I have not been able to get on the site in so long since I am a retail store manager in a girls clothing store so I went right from Back to School into Holiday! I want to say hello to all of you new ladies who have joined the group! Welcome! I look forward to getting to know all of you! With Christmas only 18 days away I am VERY backed up on my holiday projects! I have a list a mile long and haven't even started! Let's have a show and tell! Show us a pic, or 2 or 3 of your holiday projects and tell us a bit about it!
Talk to you all soon!
This isn't really a holiday project, per se, but it is what I am working on this holiday season. This is a quilt that my step father commissioned from me to be raffled off to benefit a battered womans' shelter in Florida. I designed the top on EQ7 and pieced the whole top at a quilting retreat with my guild in October in 25 hours. The hats were machine embroidered by a friend. I have spent countless hours on the internet to find quilting ideas for this quilt. I finally have it all marked up for quilting and it will get basted tomorrow.
In my searches I came across Amy Johnson and her machine quilting with longarm rulers, and I am thoroughly intrigued! I ordered a special foot for my machine and a straight line ruler to start with and play with. If I can get good enough with this technique I might try using it a little on this quilt. If not, the walking foot will come out. I have a lot of feathers and stuff going on this quilt as well, and some stippling. I am anxious to get started on it because I told him I hope to have it done by the end of January. We will see.
I have other WIP's as well, but this one is the biggie for right now.
The picture was added as an attachment. I thought it would just add it to this post. Sorry for that.
Sue - This is not a whole holiday project, but I thought it goes with the theme! This is my version of Snow Day, Block #509, from Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks, Volume 6. Block designed by Denise Russart. I made it as part of a quilt for my youngest son. He's picking all the blocks and all the fabrics. Have a super day!
