I have been away for quite some time now. A lot of personal issues. I have decided to come back to My Quilt Place and see what's up. I don't even remember which groups I'm on! Plus, there are a lot more to check out!

Hello to anyone new! I'm wondering if Julie Beard is ago I here! Lots to catch up on!

What did you make for your very first quilt?  Or if you are making your first one now, what is it?  For my very first quilt I made a lap size Log Cabin.  I used the book, "Log Cabin in a Day" by…Continue

I so want to quilt, however everytime I try, the trash gets something new. I can't seem to keep straight or square and get frustrated and start over and over and over. Have tried many patterns, but…Continue

This is the best place I've found for thread help...types of threads, tension problems, bird nests on the back of quilts, etc.  Their education section is amazing!  They also have videos now.

I was wonderng about using "Dream Green".  Although I can't stand polyester batting, I think this may be thin enough to use for the table cloth.  I'm not really in the mood to do it, but I thought it would be nice to give it to my cousin for Christmas...and I hate waiting until the last minute!

You know, we had our house on the market for 2 1/2 years and only 4 lookers.  One party wanted to buy it, and we found another house, but they pulled out just 5 days before closing.  I was crushed!  That was after being on the market for 1 year.  We finally gave up just a few weeks ago and didn't renew our contract.  We kept dropping the price, but now we decided to wait for the market to improve before trying to sell again.  What a disappointment!

Hi Bridget, nice hearing from you....I used some batting that was from the textile warehouse site, came in a big roll..funny thing is the first time I ordered it, I got like a warm and natural,. and the second time, I ordered the same thing, but 2 years later, got a soft fluffy batting. I am using it, as I have 40 yards of it. I think it will be fine.  I am going to have to work on that project today, hate ripping things out, but it will be dragging the floor if I leave it the length it is now. Ha ha.  I know what you mean, about living in different places, I moved here 7 years ago, and the neighbors aren't friendly, and the town people are not either. I wish I didn't live here. But, we tried to sell our house a couple of years ago, and didn't get a nibble, have to sell it before we move!  Good luck, hope we can both move where there are nicer people around!  Thanks so much for your book!! Carolyn, thanks for sharing that website...I like it a lot and already fabric is calling my name!  I like the way they have more than specifically quilting fabrics; I'm starting to play around with home dec, silks and linens.  Their price on tulle is really good as well!

I have a large quilt pieced and my cousin wants me to make her a tablecloth out of it.  What kind of batting are you planning on using?  I don't want it to be too heavy.  I thought about just putting a backing on, but I don't know if that would work or not.

Bridgette, I'm really surprised so many joined already.  I didn't want to start it because I thought no one would be interested.  I just know that I had so much help in the beginning with all of my questions and got so many ideas.  Like the starch idea.  I wouldn't have thought that one up on my own!

Hey...Is the Outlaw Quilters Group a yahoo group?  Is it an on-line guild?  I've been interested in an on-line guild, but I'm starting to think this place will be enough for me.  I spend too much time here already!  Probably because it's all new to me.

I piece for QOV, right?  Do you have a pattern picked out or are you designing your own?  You got me interested in QOV again, so that will be my next quilt (after the two I'm currently working on).  I need to design a pattern for it first.

Anyway, thanks for writing and for joining this group!  By the way, are you a Leo?  Or perhaps a Taurus?  You seem really outgoing like I am.  We share the same name, so I'm wondering what else we share.  My middle name is Marie.  Tell me yours isn't or I'd really freak!

Thanks for starting this group Bridget, I am currently working on a quilted tablecloth for my mother's 80th birthday, just measured her table, and am going to have to cut it down to an 80 inch table, measured my 102 inch table..yuck. Oh, well, I have until June 11th...?  Another site for fabric that I like is, it has a lot to offer.

I've come across a few members who are new to quilting and thought a group specifically for "newbies" would be nice.

I've been quilting avidly for 5 years, but there are many techniques I have yet to try, so I was hoping some seasoned quilters would join as well to help with any questions or offer advice.
