How many machines do you own? Which one is your favorite, and why? I'm always curious about how people work. I have 3 sewing machines; a Singer 905 from the 80s, a Viking freesia 415, and a Brother…Continue

Hi! I live in western NY (Rochester area) but grew up and currently spend most of the summers in upstate NY, Cranberry Lake, a tiny town in the Adirondacks. I've sewn most of my adult life, clothes for me and my kids, but kinda stopped sewing while I was a Sec. Ed teacher. After I retired I started quilting - thinking I could just do wonders because I had sewn so long. Wrong - what a learning curve! But I have fun, it keeps my mind from turning to mush, and I love making quilts for my grandsons - they don't see nor care about the quality/mistakes! I get on kicks where I am constantly in my sewing room, then time will go by where I don't go in there at all! Would love to hear from anyone, am still navigating the site and trying to figure it out.

Hi Vicki,

Welcome! What kind of quilting interests you the most?

I'm having some problems with the group's settings. When anyone posts a comment, and I click on it, I'm not directed to that post or page. This doesn't happen on other groups. Can anyone help me out? Thanks!

Good Morning!

I just joined this site after rekindling my quilting passion as my New Year's Resolution.  Looking forward to exploring!

Welcome to our new members. Please feel free to start any discussions you wish to; every kind of quilting is wide open here.

What do you all like to do? I love hand piecing and applique myself. Come on, let's get talking!

Very cool! I was asking because I've been to a few big shows lately where my friends and I stood in front of the quilts, looked at each other and said "Really?" Very disappointing.

I'm going to try to go to the show at Dutchess Community College next week. Anyone else going?

Over 100 quilts at each show, and they were awesome. One show at a church, the other at a community college. Plenty of ideas for future projects.
Yes, I shopped, book sale. Quilted cards, fabric.
I have 3 papillon dogs, animal themes and butterflies get my attention.
Have friends that have a pet food pantry, I've made quilts and tote bags for their raffles.

Mary, how many quilts were at each show? Did you think the quality was up to par? Did you pick up any goodies at the vendors?

Saturday, I went to two quilt shows in Dryden, NY, it's near Cortland. Weather was great there, but foggy and rainy on trip down and back.

I live in Selkirk NY, a small hamlet of Albany. I just got back from a bus trip to Syracuse where we visited 2 quilt shops there.  It was a gorgeous day and a fun trip.
