Great colors Janet, they look wonderful together!

Wow Lavonne! I love the colors on the black. The textures and colors will make a great quilt-good job!

Gina I love the fact that you used only 2 colors for your circles-very dramatic.

Love your blocks, Mary, they look great.

I'm busy working on part 4. Hopefully I'll be done soon.  I can't wait to see how this is going to go together-what fun.

Lavonne, your colors are just wonderful! And with the black background... your finished quilt is going to be spectacular!

@ Lavonne, you have been busy. I love your colors. I have a lot of work to do this weekend. I'm so behind.

@ Susan, I like that you used the same fabric for the long strip and centers of part 3.What a great idea. I might to that as well or at least use the one fabric for the part 3 centers.

Wish I had left my strips long.  Once its quilted it will be OK, I hope. I cut the 90 some pieces and came out with an inch to spare.  I still guess we get to cut into the circles.  Gina you get first this time!  I'm usually not in a hurry, but each seam is such fun.

Ok, I was naughty... I did step 4 tonight...totally skipping over step 3 because I was excited about an easy step. I still have to finish step 2 and start step 3, but hey, at least step 4 is done! LOL!
Since I can't add photos to this discussion from my phone, I have added a photo of my step 4 to my photo album if anyone wants to see it. Otherwise I do plan to add a photo to this discussion stream tomorrow when I am at work and have use of a laptop. :-)

Very pretty Lavonne!

I want to second what Weeks said earlier -  we wrote these directions trying to balance making things practical and economical while also keeping the final quilt a mystery. If any of you have our books (Quilts Made Modern, Transparency Quilts, The Modern Quilt Workshop, etc.) then you know we try to be very respectful of both your fabric and time. This Mystery Quilt project is a bit different in that some of the process is deliberately obscure to keep you guessing. There are certain assembly line techniques that could expedite things if we weren't revealing the quilt bit by bit. So I hope you feel that the suspense is worth it. It sure is fun for us to watch your quilts unfold.

Thanks Cynthia and Chris for the instructions.  For some reason the buttons didn't appear last time but I was having problems with the connection last night.   I'm also thankful to see a little less sewing in step 4!   Here are my blocks for the first 3 parts.   They are pretty colorful!
