My first large quilt  yrs ago was a Log Cabin lap quilt made from A Jelly Roll . I watch for sales on them as they can cost anywhere from 40 to 60.00 here in Canada where i am. I have bought some really good books for Jelly Roll quilts . I am still looking for a Black and White Jelly roll to make myself a quilt with and so far no luck not seen any so might have to make my own jelly rolls from diff black and white material .

Hi Kathy,  That is a great idea.  I have some girls in my guild who just cut their own strips and it worked out fine.  You just have to remember to get about 20 different pieces, each one different so you have a great variety of strips.  My jelly roll had two of each print.

Jelly rolls are costly but make it easier when making a quilt that requires 2.5 inch squares.   I wonder if anyone would be interested in doing a  2.5 inch strip swap . We do it at our Guild . We all bring strips of a certain color each month and then whoever brought one puts their name in for each strip they bring so if you bring 3 you put your name in 3 times for the draw of all the strips .We usually split it up for two winners as we get a get turn out for the jelly roll draw.

That sounds like fun Kathy.
