Need to tell you my favorite kidney story.  A friend needed one, and she had a much older brother she barely knew by Christmas Cards.  He was a match, and they became acquainted during the process.  Last I heard he was still calling every week to see how they were feeling, and to keep up in general.

Oh Shelley!  I assume the kidney is doing really well and he can help you while your wrist recovers.  Wouldn't he like to learn to paper piece??

So I finally got the courage to actually cut into material. Within a two week period of the first cut my husband received a new kidney - something we had been hoping he would get for more than eight years - and almost given up hoping. How exciting! I even had my quilting box ready to carry with us. Never had the time to do any sewing! We were in Indy for four weeks after his kidney transplant when I took a fall and broke my right arm - yup the main arm at the wrist. I am on hold again until it heals completely. Don't give up on me! I will return eventually, and in the meantime I sure am enjoying the pics others have posted! Thank you so much for the inspiration!

Shelley, YOU CAN DO IT!! Imagine how great it will feel to have a beauty of a completed block (don't those pieces look so pretty!)! Consider yourself AWARDED and REWARDED, too, because the benefits outweigh the risks, for sure!  YAY!  Go, scissors, go!  I'm very happy you made this big step. Can't wait to see what you make!

I know most people will not understand how important this is, but I finally CUT some of my fabric and glued to my paper pieces. For me this is a major accomplishment! I was sure I would not have a problem gluing or basting, but getting to that point has been a MAJOR problem. Silly I know, but I feel as if I just won an award. Plus I learned I do not have nearly enough of one of the fabric choices - only one fat quarter. Will be investing in another yard or two of the one specific fabric. Realized how much I liked it with almost all of the others. A big thank you to Lemmah!

OM Gosh! How exquisite! You have done such a wonderful work both in design and color choices! I am going to be happy if mine just looks okay!  Hopefully I will become good enough to care if it is really pretty, but I cannot even begin to imagine doing something on this scale! AWESOME!
