Have any of you done thread painting? I'm not very familiar with stabilizers, but I know I don't want to use a water soluble stabilizer. What kind of stabilizer would use use with this? And does…Continue

I just joined and I'm wondering if this group is for art quilters; the word "play" in the title leads me to belive so. Also, what does Curvies mean? Thanks!Continue

I joined this group as my friend and I are lucky enough to be taking a class from Dianne in Charlotte, NC in august. We are already talking about what fabrics to pack and bring as I will be traveling from Key West. It looks like a lot of fun and certainly outside the block -my favorite kind of quilting
Dianne--We haven't met. As far as I know! My name (and my quilt) was in American Quilter magazine last May. My Beyond the Block mystery quilt was one of the three winners. I would say if you remembered that, you have an EXCEPTIONAL memory!
I retired early in May 2010 and have been getting back into full-time quilting where I left off in 2001 when I started a 3rd career as a teacher. I took classes at Des Moines in 2010, and at Paducah last year. I am fortunate to be able to stay with a cousin just outside of Des Moines, and my sister in Marion, Illinois, an hour from Paducah. That makes everything much more affordable. I also traded in my old van for a new Prius, so road trips are easy on the gas bill!
No Paducah for me! Only in my dreams...I'm thankful your teachings wind up in books because books I can afford!
just flights are about $4000, then there's the rest...... I feel this is a fantasy only for me but as they say, dreams are free and half of the fun.
I'd love to go someday, If only it was not so far and therefore soooo expensive. We hear about this show from some of the Quilt shop owners here in New Zealand who attend and it sounds wonderful, I'll just have to keep dreaming.
I have already signed up to take a class with you at Paducah, Dianne. I'm working on a "playtime" project now. I will get some of the pieces together in the next couple of days and post some pictures and tell everyone about it. As usual, I started a new project before I finished the last one, so I am still putting together pieces so I can free up my design wall for "playtime."
Hi ....just joined ....love the quilts displayed on this page....I do art quilts and crazy quilts.....photography....also do painting {wc...acrylic...] drawing w/pencil and pastel....looking forward to reading the blogs and seeing works by other members.....
OMG! That was you? I know a celebrity!!! That was a GREAT SHOW! I just loved it and you are a hoot!
I just checked it out on Amazon and it looks really interesting; especially for the space I'm in right now; a rather dry time. I hate it when that happens because you feel like you'll never be in a quilty mood again. But it always seems to pass eventually.
Thanks for the offer of a signed copy, but I'm on a really strict budget with hubby in school and only working part-time. I did notice a used on on Amazon for under $7.00 and I think I can swing that.
I'm glad I asked because it sounds like just the thing I need at this time!
Thank you!
