Inspiring Quilters, Stitch by Stitch
I joined this a few years back, then did not keep up with the forum. So, here I am again... hoping to get new inspirations and answers to questions. I am sort of teaching myself to use a long arm that I acquired about 18 months ago. So far my skills are minimal, though I have learned to do pantographs pretty well. Anyone with easy ideas for designs for free motion, no marking, with a long arm, please share!
Also, I am working on a quilt idea that some friends and I will put together to sell for funds for another quilting friend to raise money to publish her book. Any ideas for marketing such a quilt would be happily accepted!!
I am signed up for Judy Woodruff's long arm quilting for beginners workshop at the Des Moines AQS in October... anyone else? I will be there on Friday Oct 7- Sat. Oct. 8.
One of the things you can try is to alter the pantographs that you've been using. Redraw them on a white board and practice the design over and over (you'll be exercising your muscle memory) then give it a go on something that won't mind some errors (or can be ripped out). You might also consider Leah Day's website for ideas. (She has some easy ones to start with.) leahday.com/pages/quilting-design-gallery Don't forget about youtube!
