Inspiring Quilters, Stitch by Stitch
This swap is for (12) 12 1/2" blocks of any type of heart/s. (You need to start with a 13" x 13" piece of fabric)
We are looking for bright, unusual, colorful bohemian type hearts. They can be patchwork, pieced, applique, embroidery, whatever you like. Just make sure that the heart is centered on the block. The heart can be any size. They can be embellished with lace, rick-rack, or anything else as long as it can be sewn through when quilted. When sewing is completed, you will cut the blocks in half and send in 6 rights and 6 lefts. You will get back 6 rights and 6 lefts. These you will then sew to the 6 rights and 6 lefts that you kept. You end up with 12 blocks, half with your heart and half with the other participants.
We are looking for blocks that represent you. Maybe you have horses, and your blocks all have horse fabrics, or maybe you are a Star Trek fan, or you love jigsaw puzzles and you do crazy block hearts. It is all up to you.
The standard swap parameters apply of course. And don't forget to send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to get your return blocks.
Blocks will be due to me by February 8th. (Just in time for Valentine's Day)
If you have any questions, just let me know. Thanks, Kathy G.

Maybe I will post pre-embellishment photos later today. What do you think?
I think that would be great--I am enjoying the planning and fabric selection--I can't wait till I finally have time to put them together!
I'm just waiting. This really will be a fun quilt, Gals! Promise! You can get pretty wild with your fabrics and trims, It will add to the whimsy!
Maybe I need to look on line for inspiration.. Even just picking fabric has been fun.
Hello everyone, I know that not many of you have signed up for this type of quilt, so I think we will change this up a bit. I have not been able to find my pictures of the quilt I made of the last lonely hearts quilt, so lets just do a heart quilt. 12 1/2" blocks of any type of heart/s you would like to do.
I think that it’s all right if we are few in number, Kathy. Don’t give up yet...some people may be waiting to see what these hearts are going to look like and how much would be expected of them if they join in on it. I am not completely sure how the embellishments will work out, but I relish the idea of getting out of my box...challenges are ways to get more creative. Furthermore, if we only have four, we can still do twelve blocks and it would work out wouldn’t it?
If you change your mind, and no longer want to be a part of this swap, please let me know. I know that some of you have already started on your lonely hearts, so if you want to make your finished blocks like the original swap was going to be, then they will be great to have. The more variety of hearts we get, the better.
As you can see, I am aiming for variety. I know things will get busier as the year draws to a close, so I thought I would just get the hearts on fabric and then work on frills later.
