Impossible Mission - September - It's the Small Things that count- Winner - Mary Moore

Ah, September and it is finally cooling down a little.  Our Secret Santa sister's boxes are starting to fill up so it is time to think about some small things to fit into it.  This month's mission is to think of a normal, everyday item and miniaturize it into a cute pincushion.  This should be a pincushion that would look cute sitting on a side table that your SS sister can use while she is sitting and watching TV, and catching up on some last minute sewing.

We have some really creative ladies in our group, so I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with.

Hmmmmm...some thinking to go on here.

Oh I love pincushions! This will be fun.

I love this! Everyday things, eh...hmmmm.

Pin cushions are always good. This is more in my comfort zone.

Finally got an idea...but need to make two or three.

So...I had an idea when I first saw this....didn't write it down and can't remember it now!  LOL.  Guess I better start keeping notes.  Hope it comes back to me soon, cause at the time I thought it was great.

So what are some of the things you ladies are thinking about? I thought an animal would be cute. I like turtles and have seen some pincushions in that shape. Or maybe a sewing, cooking or gardening theme related pin cushion?

Here's my pincushion/ sewing case. My own design. An apple about 41/2 × 5" when closed. Inside is the pin case pages for a variety of needle types...keep them sorted by the page! Embroidery, hand quilting, self threading, machine, safey pin etc.At the bottom is a combo pocket ( just right for snips or tweezers) , and the surface has magnets sewn in , so it's a magnetic pin cuzhion ( my favourite kind).

Under the pages on left is a thimble pocket ( or tgreader...whatever) and under pages on right is a tall thin pocket for seam ripper or bodkin etc.

Super cute apple. Love the colors also.

That is super cute.

Here 's the thimble/ threader pocket.

And here's the bodkin/ ripper or darning needle one

Below is the little worm hiding beneath the leaf!

Very cute.  Never thought to sew in magnets.  Great idea.
