I am repairing a quilt for a client and would like to figure out its approximate age.

The materials are not 100% cotton.  It seems to have a synthetic fill.  It's a simple applique design.  It looks to me like a commercially-prepared quilt with a stamped design on which the quilter appliqued the flowers and stems according to the directions, and then embroidered to embellish the quilt.

I am guessing about 1960.  What do you think?

I just googled "Kit quilts history", and it looks like there is lots of information there including pictures.  It could be older than you think.  Good luck.

that is a wonderful quilt. i agree w mary...looks more like style, calicos and colors from fifties, maybe forties. except that red does looks more like early sixties. i have read a bit about quilt kits, have a couple from fifties and think the whole subject very interesting. so do quilt historians like b brackman et al. do net search...may even find pic of this one. good luck, let us know what you find out?
