Event Description

This class teaches how to cover the edge of the quilted "quilt sandwich" with double-fold binding, using the sewing machine. This is usually the final step in making the quilt (unless you add a hanging sleeve or add embellishments). Double-fold binding that is cut on the bias is one of the most durable bindings for a quilt.

Students need to sew together their binding strips into one continuous length prior to class. (Optional: Take the class on Making the Continuous-Cut Bias Binding Strip prior to this class session.)

This is a 4-hour class, but additional time has been scheduled to allow a lunch break. Bring your own lunch and drink.

Cost: $40.00 for 4-hr class session per student, in small groups (no credit cards accepted). Private lessons are available for an additional fee.

This class has 4 students preregistered. Space is available for 1 more student, or another session can be scheduled.

Supply list will be e-mailed to students (from me) after they preregister. Please allow enough time to receive your supply list & purchase all the supplies prior to class.

Students need to bring their own sewing machine or make special arrangements with me in advance.  The store does not provide sewing machines or rotary cutting equipment.

Arrive 10-15 minutes early for each class, to allow time to set up (especially for quilting classes using a sewing machine) & make your payment.

I am offering many different classes on Quilting, Needle Tatting, or Crocheting at Hobby Lobby stores in Knoxville and Oak Ridge, TN. I am teaching sessions on Monday afternoons, Tuesday morning/afternoons, or Friday afternoon/evenings. Students can request special sessions at other times if a classroom is available.

The class taught on each date will be determined by what students request when they pre-register with me. Students must preregister in advance (2 days preferred) to select the class topic & date/time.

A variety of class options are available, teaching a range of skills, and most are 3 hour classes. See the listing of quilting, needle tatting, & crochet classes on my page at

Kindly support Hobby Lobby when you purchase class supplies, so that the classroom space remains available. Hobby Lobby has a good selection of needles for tatting, crochet hooks, cotton & perle cotton threads for tatting or fine crochet, yarns, 100% cotton fabrics (including Kona solids), quilt batting, and basic quilting & sewing supplies.

Class sessions will not be held unless a minimum # of students preregister. I will call you directly if a class has to be cancelled.

Please do not come to the store for a class session unless you have registered with me in advance. I do not come to the store unless students have pre-registered. I only print class handouts for those who have pre-registered.

The store does not provide sewing machines and does not handle any registration details for the instructors.
