Thanks Jean, for returning my message. I am glad you are doing well. And so much understand for not being able to get on. You sound like a very busy women. Maybe after the holidays you'll be able to get back on. I think others have been busy and not on as much because of getting ready for for the holidays. Your quilts are beautiful. Please take care and hope to see you on when your able.
I'm not exactly a spring chicken either, Jean. I raised my children in that area and my baby just turned 40. And there was a JoAnn Fabrics there at that time. I took in alterations back then and was always running in there for something. Then I started making some of their models for the flyer and working in the store part time. I had a full time job too. No wonder I was always worn out!!!
must have been turn-the-idiot-cell-phone-drivers-lose day. was heading a few towns over to go quilt w my q group this morning. as i was passing the state patrol truck weight/speed trap building on the interstate, i looked up in rearview mirror to see car speeding up behind me weaving in the lane. it sped up and passed me still weaving. i thought hmph! a bit early to ve that drunk! looked over at him as he passed.. a guy -head down, one hand on the wheel, no eyes on the road ...so obviously texting. idiot. fortunately we were beyond area of yesterday snow..clean dry pavement.
where in socal? i'm a native of ventura county. yes, sometimes emails are difficult to keep up with, but as you say...fun:)). drive carefully, be as safe as you can ---with weather like the midwest and east is having now, i always found the danger was more often the other drivers driving too fast for conditions, losing control and creating havoc for others. same for here also, when we have winter, unlike this year :((. oh well ...take care
it was made by mary moore while on a quilt cruise w doreen speckman in norway. all norwegion fabrics she said. i love the bright colors also. i have a wooden spoon & stand my hubs grfather brought from norway years ago after visiting family there. all these bright yellow $ brilliant reds in the designs.
don't worry ..the names will come. couple years here & i still have to go back & forth between comment & persons home page to remember who they are & where they're from.
yes, can be a wee bit of a lag, a little difficult to keep up while traveling. tho it sorta makes for fun catch up time in motel when we get in late after a long day on the road, dinner & finally settle in for night. log in to MQP, catch up and fall asleep tired from the day, but w a smile from the catch up reads. with cureent weather across the eastern 2/3 of US, do be safe, but enjoy your travels.
hi jean. just saw your comment in UFO and went back few pages to see what i had missed. is there a chicken quilt in there somewhere?
anyway, hope you're havin' fun here at mqp. i have been here few years now, active a couple of 'em. have been enjoying all the camaraderie and trading of help info and ideas and of course, the pics of wonderful quilts everyone posts. so glad you joined us!
Welcome you to MQP, I am Chef Lisa an honest to goodness Chef.
Sometimes we are not sure where to visit on this site. Over a year ago I joined in, navigated throughout and started a few pages with several swaps.
The swaps have very been successful. I wanted to let you know that I have a group of quilters that are doing several different swaps: the 2 ½” Designer Quilt Store quality Batiks, the Charm Squares 5” in Batiks and Cotton and new the 10” Layer Cake. The swap is just starting new sign-ups for the New Year!
Carla Walton and Colette LeFever are the administrators for the Designer Batik Swap. You will need to friend Carla, Colette, and Chef Lisa along with Teresa Scanlon that is doing the Cotton Charm Swap. Come on over to view what we are doing at the projects page http://myquiltplace.com/group/batik-strip-swap/forum/topics/projects-and-pictures?xg_source=activity., some of the gals are doing the Blooming Nine Patch and the Jewel Tone that uses the 2.5” strips and the Charms. Some of the group is doing the Twister quilts with the’ lil’ twister tool, just view that page also. The new Layer cakes will soon have a place in everyone’s hearts.
you don't need to send me your address- just put it on the return envelope. other than that I don't need anything else right now. If you have a a name for your block or want to send a picture I will add it for everyone to be able to see. Sometimes it helps people decide what block not to do (because they are taken). And its fun to get to see everyones creativity.
If you're interested in a swap go to the top of your page to "groups". There are many to choose from, and one of them is the swap group. It's still pretty new and it can get confusing when there are a few swaps going on at once (like there are now). A new one is starting for September for swapping fat quarters of leaf fabrics.
Thank you for the compliments! You know, it took me a good two weeks to figure this place out! Once I figured out where my pictures were on my computer it was easy to put them here. And I didn't know you had to join a group to participate in a discussion. At first I just posted messages in the forum, where anyone can write, but for the groups you have to join. I belong to several, but it seem like the newbies group, the swap group and the long arm quilters groups are the busiest. I like participating in the swaps, but it's been getting kind of confusing lately with several going on at once. I have to read my e-mails daily or I get lost in a hurry!
I was a travel Nurse and worked at JFK in Indio, CA from 2007-2008. I really miss being out here. I fell in love with the desert. Hope to get back out that way soon. I lived in Palm Desert, near a quilt shop, I think it was called MaryAnne's. I bought a few southwest-style quilt patterns, hope to get them done sometime soon. I'm just getting back into quilting again.
