No, l use velcro. Best to put on a piece the size that needs to be rolled/ advanced so you can get practice with that too.

Things you might tight quilt is on frame. I found if tight, l can get skips...loosen a bit & see it that helps. Second, the quilt could possibly be up too far from machine's bed. Sometimes when l've finished a long quilt, lifting takeup bar as l proceeded, l forget to lower the bar when starting the next quilt. And lastly, the foot. I have 3 feet for my machine, ruler, dish and hopper. Try a different on if you have it, as some will work on one fbric/ batting combo better than another. Longarmers have to learn that managing the quilt on the frame is just as important as seeing to machine's tension etc.

Violet, did you get your machine to work? I didn't see your post ( mid summer wedding in our family)... there's a fb fgroup called " Longarm Quilting" that can really be helpful...otherwise, my suggestikn would have been to sop up as much oil w/ clean cotton cloth & q tips, then change needle, rethread , and sew on scraps until oil clears up. He wouldn't have hurt it, unless there's computorized parts near where it was oiled.
