I'm in a quilting slump, I don't want to finish this double wedding ring that I'd get paid for if I finished it, lol. I don't want to work on the awesome looking dragon/hurricane themed t shirt quilt that's at least half done and all laid out really, lol. I don't want to finish quilting the scrap quilt for my niece.. I actually don't want anything to do with my sewing room right now.. I went down there Monday for a bit, but I just couldn't get into it. I hate times like this.. what do the rest of you do when you're in a quilting slump?

I started spring cleaning.. of course with CFS, I don't get a lot done real quick, lol. It's kind of - scrub and wash and straighten for 15 minutes, then rest for an hour, then do another 15 minutes, rest for an hour, etc. I almost have my kitchen done, and if you saw the size of my kitchen and realized I'd been working on it for nearly two whole days, you'd truly think I was the laziest person, EVER. I wanted to have a garage sale tomorrow, but it's forecasting rain, so maybe I'll finish up the kitchen.

Today I went shopping, went by Michael's and looked at the options for making a quilt block clock like Gladys's.. I love hers.. So I originally went looking for either a square canvas or styrofoam to put the fabric on but then I saw the wood pieces and the lightbulb went off..I have TONS of scrapbooking papers..decoupage anyone?? I may go with that idea as I have some really amazing papers and the decoupage would really hold up well, plus I could make super intricate designs. Then I went to the grocery store.. be still my heart, my favorite fruits finally hit the produce aisle, pink lady apples, pluot plums and beautiful ripe nectarines, oh my. So, now I think I'll sit on my butt, look at other peoples quilts and eat some fruit.

So true, I do need to get that dwr done.. but on the bright side, I won't lose the customer, she doesn't have anyone else to sew the dwr's for her. I am heading to the sewing room right now though. I said I'd put in a booth at the craft fair the humane society is having.. if nothing else, that should keep me motivated for the next month until the fair, gotta help all those puppies and cats and the stray rabbit or two...Thanks, Riana for the tough love, I definitely needed some.

Viki, I know the feeling, BUT you have a paying customer waiting. And if you want to keep the paying customer(s), you'd better schedule in 1 hr. per day at the very least. Do it early enough in day so you have the rest of the day free to do whatever. Once you get tough with yourself and do it, you're self esteem will keep you going. Just give all those other projects a rest, they're siphoning off your energy. And as you pointed out, there's a limited quantity of that. Now get to work!!!

I hope you have been able to get past your slump!  Maybe you have too much on your plate with the UFO's?  Eat the elephant (one bite at a time).  I usually look at other people's quilts, or go to a good fabric store, to get past that feeling.  I have to haul everything out to my dining room to sew, but I'm just grateful I have the time and everything I need to be able to do it!

i miss new jersey for same reason. neighbors thought i was nuts. one even thought that the berries i was picking were poisonous. wild berries of all kinds grew along roads and in the woods around my house. lo bush blue berries, red & black raspberries, ground blackberries, dewberries (the "poisonous" berries lollol) but they all loved the jams & jellies i brought them! in northern california i hiked the forests picking red & black huckleberries. and of course the himalayan blackberries were everywhere, they grow here too, but i just found that out a few months ago. wild loganberry type berry grew where i used to live in northern ca. the second growth forests where i had picked huckleberries few yrs before had been clearcut. there were no more berries to be found.

thinking about maybe planting some berries under my fruit trees, but i am having more & more trouble maintaining what i have planted. and more trouble doing all the things i love to do as time goes on & the forever flu kicks in more frequently, & increasingly more severly. i hate it. so frustrating.

but this a.m. fresh crabapple jelly on whole grain toast for breakfast. the only reason to eat bread! well, except for fresh tomatoe & lettuce sandwich :)).

I haven't made any homemade jelly in a long time.. I miss Alabama for that, I had about two miles worth of wild blackberries that grew along the trail behind my house and a good friend that I worked with who grew blueberries, so we'd trade a few pounds so both of us could have both kinds.. but up here I don't know anyone with fruit growing at all... oh well.

...or a mix of drops of dish soap alcohol and baking soda and pour over soil. also good for aphids, ants or whatever else ails ya lollol.

carla the enchiladas turned out great. bbq extra meat last weekend after cutting pork loin into steaks and roast for freezer. used that for the enchiladas. dh was surprised to have a "winter" meal in august, lollollol, but told him tired...cooking and cleaning for two days...fruit flies from all the fresh fruit i have been working with cleaned out, oven & kitchen already hot from white nectarine/cherry cobbler. so throw in enchiladas..a little mix ro freezer, four enchiladas w expected leftover for coming week. the operative word there was "expected". sigh!

yah viki...that 'ol tired thing does get in my way. my "forever flu" kicked in big time this am...but this afternoon i decided to go for it w the crab apple jelly. figured the worst that could happen is burn the jelly or have that hard rolling boil that can't stir down just bubble all over the kitchen. so i would have something else to clean :))!! but tho it took longer than should...knob set at lower temp than should be ...took me a while...actually QUITE a while to figure that one out lollollol. but got four large little jars of pretty pretty ruby wine colored crab apple jelly. my very favorite. so...the bad day became a whoohoo!! day!

well this is not quilt related or even slump related but as an ex landscaper/nursery person, i can tell you that likely most of your fruit flies hatch from the dirt in your brand-new beautiful plants that you bought to make your house look lovely. you can usually fix that by putting a small amount of insect kller on the dirt and watering it in........:)
