I've been looking into all the different cutting systems for a while now -- I am not patient enough to cut well and too cheap to buy all precuts when I have so large a fabric stash (and my mom's I can rob as well!) I am the queen of the dreaded "V" cut on long strips and just HATE it when the bulk of my fabric slips off onto the floor...  So when I saw the QuiltCut 2 system advertised in this month's McCall's Quilting magazine, I thought this looked like just the right system for me.

I really didn't want to get into the whole you-have-to-buy-a-million-dies mode because I knew I'd have to have them ALL, even though I'd never use most of them.  I visited the web site and watched all the videos and think I've made the right decision for me.  Does anyone else use the QuiltCut 2?  (Guess I should have asked before I ordered it, huh?) Looking forward to receiving it in a week or so...   I will keep you posted on how it works for me and would like tips from anyone else who uses it.   Stay tuned!

Susan, yes that would be it,you have to put a little tension when you do this by pulling the fabric apart a little bit,it will not distort your fabric.Good Luck!

Pat - thanks for the additional ripping tips!  Ok, take out the first four stitches then just run the blade between the layers?

Did you receive your Quilt cut yet? How is it working for you. I hate rotary cutting strips also. Looking into buying one but want to make sure you love it first!

Wow Debbie, that is a deal. I've seen this tool but I kind of like using all my different rulers etc. I occasionally get the dreaded V, lol. But I'm one of those quilters who is a firm believer in steam when pressing my fabric and my seams. I find the better I press the fabric before I start the fewer ripples and V cuts I make on accident. If you don't press it well, then the fabric sort of rolls over instead of folding and that's when you get the wavy cuts and that V at the fold.

I can't wait to hear how you and Debbie do with it though, like every quilter, I want every nifty gadget out there.

Susan, before you take the (gulp)LOL-I forgot to tell you to rip out the first 4 stitches then proceed with the evil tool nobody will touch.Would you rather spend 20 minute ripping a seam or 2 minutes? Good luck!

Thanks for the tips, Pat!!!  Gonna try the razor blade (gulp!)

You were talking about the V when you cut strips,I've been ripping my strips for years, that way you avoid the V and they're always straight.Another thing I do is not use the seam ripper,I use a razor blade, much quicker and easier and no I've never ruined a piece by doing this, you just have to have the courage to do it.

Well, Debbie, you definitely got the deal of the century!!! (I am sooo jealous!) Visit the website at www.quiltcut.com - they have several videos showing just how to use it. You can also order an hour-long instructional DVD but it will cost you more than you paid for the system (which retails at $220+, by the way...) OOH - am I ever jealous (did I mention that???)
