Inspiring Quilters, Stitch by Stitch
I am starting a new group for quilters in west Knoxville, TN, at my church. The first meeting will be Wednesday, April 16, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (if we want to stay that long). It is at West Hills Baptist Church, 409 N. Winston Rd. (across from the West Side YMCA and behind Toys-R-Us) in room 39. We will discuss when to schedule future meetings, probably once each month. Bring whatever project you want to work on and everything that you need. Also bring a sack lunch & drink.
I am primarily a machine quilter, but hand quilters are welcome. I will provide an iron and an ironing board and some extension cords. Quilters need to bring their own rotary cutting mats & supplies, sewing machines, etc. The room where we are meeting has lots of table space, chairs, good lighting, but only 2 electrical outlets.
This quilting group is not meant to replace quilting classes that I and others teach, but will be more like an old-fashioned quilting bee (but including sewing machines & rotary cutters!). Some ladies from the church are truly beginners, and I am sure that they will get plenty of help here if they choose to participate. I know of several quilters who plan to come (including several of my students).
I am excited to start this group! I previously started a similar Crochet Group at my church, and many of the crocheters are also quilters. They convinced me to offer a Quilting Group as well, and some meetings will include both quilters & crocheters. We already added a knitter to the crochet group.
