Not quite done with the library shelf wall hanging, but hope to finish it up tomorrow.  I took a picture "as is" just because I am so happy with how it is turning out!

It was my first time using invisible thread.  Had a few problems - first, as the bobbin was spooling, it jumped over the bobbin and onto the post under it and before I knew it, I had a good 30-40 minutes of UN-winding it by hand!  When it's invisible, it is even more challenging!  Then a couple of times while I was sewing, the thread jumped out of the holding place at the top of the machine (too lazy to go get the manual and tell you what the thingy is called).  It still was a great option for sewing down all the "titles" of the books and I would use it again.  I just need to pay a bit more attention to what's going on!

I think I am going to just quilt wavy lines horizontally for the background.  I have Minky on the back, and I don't want to stitch it down too tightly because I want my BFF to be able to stroke it when she is stressed.  I'm thinking of using the binding I was going to use on "Romantic" for this - will have to audition it tomorrow.  Finished pictures will be posted this week!  Then off it goes to surprise my friend!

Love it!  I like your ideas for quilting and binding it...is your friend a book lover?  What could be better than snuggling up with a good book under a soft quilt made by your BFF?

It's looking good, can't wait to see it done, I think this is a brilliant idea for a quilt.. I'll have to remember to save some of my selvages to make one eventually.. of course I'll save the selvages, find them after I've forgotten why I saved them.. toss them all and remember the day after the trash is picked up, lol.
