January is almost over and I believe I've accomplished a TON this month.

1)  I've started a Block of the Month (that I've always wanted to do).  Actually I may have gotten a little carried away because I've started 2 now.  The first is through Craftsy.com and it's a FREE tutorial and we're making 2 blocks per month.  The other is through my Quilt Guild and is a pieced block, the first one is "Barbara Fritchie Star", made up of half square triangles.  I have never done those before and I'm using THANGLES to hopefully keep them from being too out of wack!!  I have made a test square that turned out pretty good, so maybe there is hope!!

2)  I started and finished another quilt top for a dear friend of ours.  The pattern is called "3-6-9" and has directions for numerous sizes (which I love).  I made him a queen size and it's a generous queen, leaving close to an 18" drop on the bed.  I hope he likes it.  I am looking for backing material now and want it to be 108" material.

3)  I've made several cards for birthdays and anniversaries coming up in February.  I enjoy making the cards and am getting practice for when I try my first applique.  Those that have recieved them really love them, so it makes it worthwhile for me to continue doing them.

I have decided that I'm picking too easy patterns so I have made a resolution to challenge myself this year, hence the BOM.  I'm looking forward to February 1 and the February BOM class at Craftsy.com.  My quilt guild doesn't meet until the 4th Monday of the month, so I will be waiting a long time for the next block.
