Inspiring Quilters, Stitch by Stitch
I've hit a wall...it happens sometimes. I've been quilting for about 30 years and pretty much try to sew at least 20-30 minutes each day. I do sell tops on Ebay, just the little tops, paper pieced, 18 inches square, 3 inch blocks and that's fun, if I didn't I would be a hoarder and would probably be on that horrid TV show but Ebay helps me keep the tops down to a dull roar. So, anyway, I sometimes just can't get the creativity flowing and I just kind of sit and stare at the sewing machine, kind of like a writer staring at the typewriter. I started a New York Beauty block a couple of days ago and planned on 6 inch blocks, 9 of them for my first try at this difficult block. We'll see how it turns out.
I was intimidated by applique for a number of years. (hard to believe I'm intimidated by too much, just not my personality to be intimidated) but I went to this great quilt shop close to me and took a class in it once a month for three months. It was so relaxing and so fun and I learned several different methods of applique. It was such a great feeling to learn something new. New horizons and such. Anyway, I feel that way about the New York Beauties, a new horizon, curves, can't be that hard, can it? Stay tuned......

Comment by viki hagan on February 15, 2012 at 3:41pm I know that feeling well. When it happens but I still have the urge to sew, I turn to my scrap bucket and crazy quilt blocks. No rhyme, no reason, no pressure.. just me and the sewing machine sewing random pieces of fabric together. If I don't even want to go in my sewing room, then I go find a good book or something, we all need a break to recharge the creative batteries from time to time. Good luck on that new york beauty..and no curves aren't that hard with a little practice and patience.
