I am in the process of doing a English Paper pieced GFG table runner and do not know how to do the back (when I get to that point). I do not want the flowers appliqued to another piece of fabric, I am not sure how to explain this but when it is finished I want just the English Paper pieced flowers showing, no other fabric. I have seen a picture of it done this way but do not know who the maker is, I have also seen it appliqued to other fabric with borders and this is not what I want either. I have in my mind what I do want but do not know how to do it. Please help...

Glad you asked that question, I re measured the straight edge and it is 1". I don't know what I used to get the 2" measurement except I may have measured the middle which is 1 7/8" from point to point in the center.

Thanks for the site,it is a lot easier and faster than tracing them. I took a sheet of traced hexis to the office supply store and had them copy them on card stock for me. It was a lot quicker than tracing so many hexis and it is only seventeen cents for a sheet and a lot cheaper than buying the pre cut hexis. I think I will print a sheet of these and take them to the office supply store next time I need more. If you like when I get home tomorrow night I can measure my hexi on the hexi ruler I used to make them. Thanks again for the link.

How do you measure the size of your hexi. I cut squares 2.5" instead of tracing the hexi and adding a 1/4" seam allowance. I want to measure the hexi the same way you do so we know it is the same size. I measured on flat side and it measures 2 1/8". Let me know how you measure your hexi and I will re measure the same way.

been thinkin'...what is the size of your hexis? since you won't be doing the edging till you finish the top...i thought i would make mil a table topper or something hexi small for exmas...and do knife edge finish. hexi are generally bound w bias or..some people just cut the outer row of hexis in half for staight edge rather than deal w the more tedious method of bias binding around all the hexi shapes. i have used knife edge for a number of things over the years, for the same reason you want now...i don't want binding or baking fab to interrupt what i have developed in the top. so, now will do a little something and try it w hexi's. the challenge intrigues me. so..to tie in my experiment, which i will photo as worked, if i do the same size as you, we will know of difficulties if sny w size etc...like if you are doing mini...might be too tiny?...really having a hard time describing what my thought is here tonight..sorry. but if you don't mind letting me know the size you are working with...thanks.

If you get the chance to post a pic I would appreciate it. I am afraid you are going to have to wait quite some time for a picture of the finished project as I have only two flowers done. Still not quite sure how I am going to put it together, I have two ideas in mind but need more flowers before I decide. One idea is just keep adding more flowers the other is to make a path in between each row of flowers. Decisions, decisions, I am not good at making decisions for myself but am helpful (so I am told) when it comes to helping others decide.
