Now that I have finished my grandmothers flower garden quilt top and will start hand quilting a night, I decided to get back to work on my John Flynn double wedding ring quilt.  I am making this quilt for my grandson Jacob when he gets married.  Funny thing, he is only 7 years old and I hope to be be around when he does marry, but just in case, decided to do one now.

I have a big dilemma, I did not purchase enough of one of the fabrics.  I went back to Hancock Fabrics here in Houston and they don't have anymore of it!  I was hoping to make a full size quilt, but only have enough weddings to do a 68" x 68" quilt.

I have gone on line to Hancock to check on purchasing another yard of the fabric.  Don't see it there.

I only have one small piece left with lettering on the selvage.  This piece says "My Collec" 2006.

I am attaching a picture.  It is a bright yellow back ground with blue flowers and vines.  Does anyone have this fabric and be willing to sell it to me?

Thanks from Houston, TexasFabric.jpg

I finally figured it out!  My husband was a machinist for years and he had the calipers to the math.  Got it perfect.  Have already sewn 4 sets of scrappy arcs.  Looking great!!!

Thanks again Viki for your help!!!!!

that is what i do. i convert the whole pattern to mmm, works most of the time. but there have been the odd times that i can't get things to come out even that way either...that is when the hair-splitting fudging starts. ....works lollol

lol, my ruler doesn't have .anything either, your .04 is 1/16th inch, approximately. If you fudge your inch just a hair you should come out close enough no one will notice. It's pretty hard to divide a quarter inch by 6 unless you go with millimeters.

Viki,

I remeasured this morning and the bottom of my arc is 6-1/4" instead of 6-1/2"

Since I will have 6 different fabrics, I divided 6.25 by 6 and came up with 1.04.  Can't figure out what this measures on the ruler!

I am having a problem on marking the bottom of the arc.  The bottom is 6-1/2" from left tip to right tip.  I divided by 6 and come up with 1.083.  Now I am confused.  Never was good at math.  Where on the ruler is 1.083?????

no, but I'm sure you could.. I have a printer that's also an exceptionally good copier so I just spend a small fortune on paper and ink, lol.

Awesome!  I am going to try this technique on my next scrappy double wedding ring.  Did you go to Kinkos and have copies made of your original?
