Inspiring Quilters, Stitch by Stitch
I feel like Charlie Brown's mother..blah blah blah.. Since I got home from my sister's house I have not been into my sewing room once. I don't even want to look at fabric. This is beginning to look like a serious slump. I couldn't even get excited by the Hancock's sale ad that came in my email today.. I went to look but blahhhhh. At this rate, I'm gonna forget how to sew. I finished the binding on a quilt that had been waiting and I have been sort of half heartedly working on finishing up a yo yo quilt I promised to someone a million years ago or so. It's possible I'm homesick for Utah. I'd been gone so long I had forgotten how much I really liked it there. I may have to do some serious thinking about this whole MO situation, it may actually be time to go back home.

They say silence is golden. Sometimes you have to just listen to your inner self, or to birds or raindrops. The music was suggested to help mood elevation while NOT sewing. I guess the bright light may bother you too , if you get migraines. As for me, even when it's totally still, there's a sound track running thru my head, and I wouldn't have it any other way:)
Comment by viki hagan on November 1, 2012 at 8:46pm I don't like music when I'm sewing, I find it distracting and annoying... which is odd considering when I was younger I absolutely had to have music playing alllll the time. Now I prefer silence or the low hum of some television show I've already seen. I get severe headaches pretty easily these days so silence usually wins.
I listen to different stuff to match my moods. Beachboys,Dion,Roy Orbison 50's60's etc. mostly. Then for energy ,Marcos Valle's latin instrumentals lots of percussion (fast/loud), Then there's the Eagles'(Hotel California - love that guitar bridge) ,and for thinking Yanni's instrumentals & doo wop for machine quilting:)
Comment by viki hagan on November 1, 2012 at 11:38am Riana, you're probably right, it might be some winter yuck/cabin fever situation. I wish I wasn't sick, I want to get in my truck and drive, drive, drive..unfortunately I can't do those cross country road trips on my own anymore.
Comment by the rogue quilter on November 1, 2012 at 9:44am Everything light, colourful & summery has dried up. The skies are grey, and it's getting darker earlier. Bet you got a case of the winter blahs early. Turn on some bright lights. Turn on some hot tunes. Dream thru a few mags. It'll pass:)

Comment by viki hagan on October 30, 2012 at 5:12pm Ok, I got up off my butt and went to the sewing room. A few months ago I did a whole quilt with that ten minute block.. so today I put it on the quilting machine and got started. I need a lot more practice but it's coming along fairly decently.. since it's very busy animal prints, I'm just doing swirlies over most of it, tiny swirlies over the black border so the variegated thread shows up really well. Gonna try and have it finished by the end of the week so I can get it in the mail to my niece next week.
Comment by viki hagan on October 30, 2012 at 12:21pm You've got it exactly right Karen.. just the doctor and the physical reality keeping me in MO.
Comment by Karen Lightman on October 30, 2012 at 5:37am Hmmmm....Utah is beautiful. I think I'd feel a little itch to move as well....especially if I had family around to help out. No kids, no job tying you to MO....maybe the doctor? In my shallow world a doctor would indeed make me think twice about moving. So would the idea of actually having to physically move my stuff....just emptying out one closet in my house seems exhausting. Well I hope the quilting bug bites you again and you can go back to getting lost in your own little creative world. That's my favorite thing about it....it's my own little place...and only mine.
