Basic Skills Classes for Beginner / Intermediate Quilters

I am offering a progression of basic skills classes for beginning and intermediate quilters. These are Trend classes which I taught at the local JoAnn's craft store(s) in Knoxville, TN. Private lessons are also an option. Most of my students start as beginners, just learning to use the rotary cutter and some just learning to use the sewing machine. Several students have taken my Block of the Month classes in 2013, and their skills are increasing with each class - to become intermediate level! I am so proud of them!

In 2013 I taught the Blocks of the Month from March to August. Each block covered additional skills in piecing / patchwork. In September I offered a class to assemble a small quilt top using Sashing & Borders. In October the class was Machine Quilting, and in November it is making Binding for the quilt. [NOTE: Another instructor will teach the Binding classes in November.] This series covered the fundamental skills to make a first quilt.

I also offered some special topics which included How to Design Your Own Quilt Top (Quilting Workshop 1) (July-August, 2013), and Color Concepts for Quilting (September-October, 2013). Next year I hope to offer additional classes on applique and other topics that my students have requested.

  Happy quilting! Monica Schmidt
