I have recently decided to take my sewing/crafting/quilting public and let others know about it and share my talents.  I thought it would be a good way to make some extra money in this time and place while I stay home with my kids to help out with the grocery bill (since gas keeps going up and that drives the price of groceries up too).  As much as I think that stay at home mom's should get a tax credit for that, I know it will never happen, so this is my way to contribute to my family and hopefully help out some.  We like to call it our rainy day money right now.

I am interested in learning and finding out way to get this going and anyone can share tip and secrets they have in having success with this if they would like.  I am hoping to find a few craft shows in the area too.

Feel free to look at my facebook page, I do not have a website at the moment, maybe that will come in the future.  I hope to hear from you or anyone about my page, suggestions are welcomed.

Thanks dawn!  I have heard of that site, but didn't know if you need a business license for it or not and haven't yet found anyone that has used it to see how it works and so forth.  I will have to look into it some more.

I visit Etsy often to look at the wonderful handmade items. I haven't purchased anything yet.

Hi there,   I heard a bout a great site called Etsy  have any of you heard about it,  its a place for selling all handmade items.   I decided to open up a "shop"  there,  its not moving to fast right now but from others that have been there a while i am told it takes a while to get your stuff on the 'selling list"  but its worth a try.  i am now working on some Christmas wall hangings a table t=runners and place mats to add to my shop.  Why dont you give it a try.    Dawn   (Ohio)

I have to agree w/Monica and Ethelda, and yet, I have heard of many people who make a go of it and earn a decent living, so obviously it can go either way.   Good luck to you I hope your idea takes off and you do very well w/it.

Good luck with your idea. I have found that most people who want to buy quilts do not appreciate the time involved. Anything that I have sold was priced barely above the cost of the material.

Thanks!! I have sold a few items, mostly to friends in hopes of them helping me spread the word.
