Hi Pat, If you need doll inspiration, try the address that Hope posted on the Foreign Doll Swap site.  All they need is flattening.  Mary

Have also found that  "Graceful Dancers"

also featured on American Quilters magazine cover, for January 2012.

Hello again Pat, just googled the Quilt Festival and found the artist - Janneke de Vries- Bodzinga.  It was the winner of the Pictorial Quilts Section, the title of the piece is

"Graceful Dancers", all free-motion quilted with a variety of threads, silks, cottons and hand dyed fabrics, together with metallic threads - no painting.

Hi Pat,

Re: Dancers

The photo's that I posted today were from the B'ham Festival of Quilts, in England.

The beauty of this quilt and the graceful dancers caught my eye and just had to post it - not my work.  Have been frantically looking through the catalogue to find the artist, but no clues yet.  As soon as I find it Ipromise to get back to you.

Hi Pat -

Thank you so much for your note on my quilt for Leslie. I do a lot of charity quilts, too.  The people I know seem to like to use them for charity auctions - they do pretty well. I honestly don't know how much a bed-sized quilt should sell for - and definitely not for one done by someone with my level of klutziness! But I know that my friends have been pleased with what they've gotten.

I love the work you have on this site. It is really wonderful! The quilt with the 2 entwined swans? Did you make that pattern for the swans up yourself? Or are the swans available somewhere? I have a wonderful man in my life, but at the moment, economics and my needing to stay near the Mass General Hospital are keeping us about 1500 miles apart. I'm working on a bed-sized quilt for us, but I think he'd love to have something very simple - like intertwined swans - to hang in his office. (They do mate for life, you know).

Thanks for asking, Pat.  This is all needle turn applique.  I researched this quilt completely and wanted to keep all as authentic as possible.  There is trapunto, Broderie purse, reverse applique, embrodery and hand penned calligraphy and drawings on most of the blocks.  The quilting is all done by hand, as well as the piecing.

Hi Pat; thank you for adding me as a friend!  I do hope you'll try again to put up the picture you want for your profile.  I guess I should have found the easy way first (which I posted on your main page in the comment section).  Then you can just delete the other one.

You quilts are absolutely amazing!

cats on quilts

Posted on August 27, 2012 at 10:02am 7 Comments

I'm not posting this to offend cat lovers but I think you should be aware of your quilts collecting fine cathair. When I quilt other peoples baby quilts I go over it with a  sticky roller to remove lint and needless to say I can always tell when the person has a cat,it is filled with fine  cathair.I would not want to give this as a gift to a baby without it being washed when it comes back from the quilter.People are probably not aware of this so maybe you would consider this.
