Kathy Buell said… What a beautiful garden, i would love to garden but we get so much rain here, (Juneau is in a rain forest), the things I would like to grown just wont do it so I my yard is very natural with ever green trees. I also own my own business, a lingerie / balloon store, I know it is a strange mix but it works, and I don't have much time at home to work in the yard, it seams like it rains here just about every Sunday, my day off. I would grow roses like my dad did but here in Juneau we don't have a steady freeze all winter, the ground will be frozen one day and soaking wet the next and it just rots the roots, so they will only grow, if they don't get too much rain, for one season and then you have to plant new ones the next year. Because I'm the boss at work and I don't have any employees, when I'm slow I get to work on my quilts.
Talk to you soon. Kathy
Kathy Buell said… The roses are beautiful. Thank you for showing me. I love roses, my late father used to grow them, they were his favorite flower. Do you plant garlic around the bottom of the rose bushes to keep the bugs down. My dad use to do that, garlic and green onion. It also so looks warm, and compared to the snain, (snow mixed in with rain) falling down in buckets outside right now where I am. It is summer for you right now isn't it?
Thanks again, Kathy
Kathy Buell said… Judith, thank you for befriending me. I am so excited about sharing my love of quilting with others from around the world.
I live in Juneau, Alaska and this is what it looks like out my front door at home, what does it look like where you live?
Your baskets are wonderful, my youngest daughter use to make these too. I however never learned how. Thank you for sharing and I'm excited to get to know you and to learn more about your part of the world.

Linda Hubalek said… Welcome Quilter Friend!
Just wanted to pop in to say “hello” and introduce myself. I’m Linda Hubalek, fellow quilter and author from Kansas. Books about pioneer women are my specialty, with a cooking or quilting theme mixed into each historical fiction series.
My Trail of Thread in written in the form of letters sent back home while my ancestors traveled to Kansas. Each book mentions twelve old-time quilt patterns, and I put drawings of them in the back of the books.
So if you like to read—besides quilting—please enjoy my blog and book excerpts on my website. Besides printed as paperbacks, my ten books are also available for your Kindle or Nook.
I have about a dozen quilts made by my great grandmother, (that we used all the time when I was a kid) so I’m into antique quilts and patterns. What kind of quilts and patterns do you like to work with?
Happy quilting and reading!
