"Florence, I like the lozenge shaped linus quilt you posted in Feb, very nice. I love scrappy quilts, the have 'life'. I also think they are great for charity quilts as you can afford to make more if you know what I mean."

Profile Information

Tell us about yourself—as much or as little as you like.
I'm a Bookkeeper by trade and a Quilter and "Family Genealogist" by hobbie. I was born and raised in the state of Washington and lived in Idaho, New York, Japan, Alaska, seven years on the Big Island of Hawaii and recently moved to Montana.
I'm a mother of five with an "Empty Nest", so with lots of time on my hands I'm spending it quilting and delving into our family roots.
How many quilts have you made?
If I had to guess, I'd say around 50 or so.
Do you want to make quilts, or simply enjoy them?
Definately make them.
How long have you been a quilter?
Since I was 11 (43 years ago) when my grandmothers and great grandmother taught me how. My first quilt piece was a 'Sunbonnet Sue'. My first quilt top was a "Bow Tie" block. My Mother had started it when she was pregnant with me. Twenty years later I finished the top when I was pregnant with my daughter and my grandmother and great grandmother quilted it. My daughter now has it.
What is your favorite quilting technique?
I applique and piece my quilt tops by machine and hand quilt to finish them.
Why do you quilt?
My Aunt Fritzi and I are the only ones left in the family to carry on the traditon. Also because I love to pass on quilts to family members as my grandmother and great grandmother did before me. I'm hoping someday that one of my daughters and my grandaughter will take an interest in quilting so I can pass it on to them.
