Three new quilts for the new season, and for family

Starting three new quilts: pink, light green, and yellow.The pink is for my niece who is going through chemo for breast cancer this spring; the light green is for her sister who has melanoma and now lymphoma. Both women were diagnosed several weeks ago, and are bravely facing treatment.

The yellow one will be for my granddaughter who is graduating from high school and heading to college in the fall.

Working on the "Journey of Hope" quilt for an MS Walk in Natick, MA

I've designed a quilt based on a picture I saw on Facebook: it showed a Charlie-Brownish figure sitting on a dock next to a Snoopy-ish dog, looking at a spiraling sunset in vivid colors. The picture captured exactly what I wanted to make for my doctor's fundraising MS Walk. In addition to being the director of a hospital MS Center, she also trains service dogs for people who need their assistance. The rainbow is to represent the theme of optimism.…

What did you do this week after Christmas?

I kept my promise to myself to finish at least one of the waiting quilt tops I'd made this past spring. So I pulled out some green fleece, some green thread for the bobbin to match the fleece, and gold thread for the top to match the bright yellow in the print of the March 17th Snoopy fabric. The fleece was just barely long enough (I had bought a yard and a half of 58" fleece, so basically a square.) My quilt top measured 36 by 50, so my husband Rick helped me trim the fleece to fit the top…
