"It did work to sew the left over strips together and then recut with the x-block. That gave me even less waste and then I sewed the little pieces together so they will help to fill the corners out. I like it much better with four by five…"
"I am wondering if I sewed the leftover strip from the star shaped x-block together, so they were a little bigger, then cut them out if I can get enough blocks to be able to make that last row so there is nothing left at all. Hmm, I think I…"
"Here is what I have thus far. I am thinking on the baby quilt to leave as is. Not sure I want to add one more border. I like it. The star one needs it zinger border, the leftover fabric border, then will put one more border…"
"My friend decided she needed to make one as well so she bought the 7.5" one. I am going to get the mini X-Block rulers when the store gets them in. I am sewing up the star blocks for the top now. I have trimmed all the left…"
"Agreed Elizabeth. If I ever get my hot pads done, I will finish these up. I better focus on my challenge goals real soon or will not get many done. I am prepping for a class to teach and thought this ruler would be a great…"
"My excitement over the Youtube tute that I just had to cut up my fabric. I now have two more x block quilts cut. I cut out for another like the baby quilt then I had to try the star quilt. The star quilt is very easy to do. I…"
"Tamara, I just went to You Tube and they have some demos of the X-Block. I think this would be wonderful with your scraps as well. See where I am going with this?
Thank you Elizabeth. That will be very helpful. It looks…"
"Tamara, it is easy to follow I think. You know how to do a nine patch right? Then it is just a matter of cutting the fabric. I just followed the directions to get mine. Love yours Elizabeth. So to get this pattern, you…"
"Hi, Beth and Elizabeth:
Great job to you both, they are georgeous! I don't have the rule and was wondering how hard it is to use on your own (without a class), and do both patterns come with the instructions?
Thanks for sharing!"
"Thanks Elizabeth. I was amazed at how fast these actually were. The consuming part was trimming the blocks. I am now sewing the scrap pieces for the border. I thought the ideas they had for the cut pieces were great.
"Anyone else use the X-Block Ruler to make these blocks? This is going to be a baby quilt. I used fat quarters and fabrics that I had in my stash. Yep had that pink and blue cow print for several years.
I have a new fat quarter and something I made for you ready to go in the mail but since you did not get the first one could you send me your mailing address so I can be sure I have the right address. So sorry you did not receive the first one as I think the card might have given you a laugh - after I made your card I looked at your address and saw you lived in Texas. The card I made had a snowman on it.
Suzanne - you asked that we contact birthday group members privately if we haven't received their fat quarter swap. I need to contact Charlotte Thompson and Angie Chappel, but I don't know how to reach them. Do you have email addresses for those two members of my group? Thanks, Nancy Burkhalter
Suzanne I love your butterfly quilt and the really bright one you have on your page. Its beautiful. Would it be possible to get the pattern for the quilt that has really bright colors in it. Its on the front of your post. Just beautiful.
