Profile Information

Tell us about yourself
I am somewhat new to quilting...have sewn all my life and made a few quilts over the years, but now that I am disabled and pretty much home bound I quilt all the time sitting in bed making mostly wall hangings for gifting...have sold one and welcome suggestions how to market my product to sell more to compensate lost income that has put financial strain on my family budget. I was a family and consumer science teacher for nearly 20 years, but due to medical problems including 5 spine surgeries, fibromyalgia and diabetes I can no longer work. I find solice in my quilting. Currently I am doing a queen size quilt for son and girlfriend which is a challenge to put together since as I already mentioned I sew sitting in bed due to pain and need for frequent rest breaks. Plus as any one addicted to quilting knows it is hard to put away the tools of your trade ...mine are along my side of the bed within easy reach! I just entered my first quilt contest ever recently with wall hanging called Fleeting Visions II based on a painting my daughter Heather did after seeing the tall ships in Chicago when she was in high school. Happy quilting!
How many quilts have you made?
including art wall hangings about 12
Do you want to make quilts, or simply enjoy them?

How long have you been a quilter?
Rerdiscovered it in the past year!
What is your favorite quilting technique?
Fusible web to iron pieces in place since using sewing machine in bed is difficult!
Why do you quilt?
I quilt to live and live to quilt...gives me purpose and joy to share!
Do you have a website?

Welcome to my quilt place.. I am so sorry about your disability. I too am disabled with a cervicl spinal injury that after 2 surgeries has left spinal cord damage.and refuse to let it drag me down.. I thank God for the wonderful man he has gave me.. Without him I would be in assisted living. He helps me walk and does alot more than any body I know would want to do.. God also helps me keep the faith.. I will pray for your pain.. My stepdaughter has fibermyalgia and she gets needles put in her nerves. She also is in bed alot. May God Bless you and heal you and ease your pain..I pray.Amen

Welcome Quilter Friend!

Just wanted to pop in to say “hello” and introduce myself. I’m Linda Hubalek, fellow quilter and author from Kansas. Books about pioneer women are my specialty, with a cooking or a quilting theme mixed into each historical fiction series.

My Trail of Thread historical fiction book series, written in the form of letters sent back home, describes my ancestors’ wagon trail journey and homesteading in Kansas. Each book mentions twelve old-time quilt patterns, and I put drawings of them in the back of the books.

So if you like to read—besides quilting—please enjoy my blog and book excerpts on my website. Besides printed as paperbacks, my ten books are also available for your Kindle or Nook.

I have about a dozen quilts made by my great grandmother, (that we used all the time when I was a kid) so I’m into antique quilts and patterns. What kind of quilts and patterns do you like to work with?

Happy quilting and reading!
