New Shop Location in North Jersey

Posted on May 23, 2011 at 7:03pm 3 Comments

I am very excited because my local quilt shop, the Cozy Quilt Shoppe, that used to be in River Edge, NJ, will be opeing in their new location in Maywood, NJ VERY SOON!

So, why is that exciting for me? Because I get to help set up all those delicious bolts of fabric for display, and SEE the NEW fabrics that have been coming in since the old location closed.

So I will put aside my queen size quilt top that I've been working on and spend tomorrow shelving fabrics.

So, I'm curious. How many hours can one sew per day for a week long project?

I'd love to hear your opinions as to how many hours you might be able to set aside for quilting.

If you were given a project pattern that says it can be made in 7 days, how many hours per day do you think is reasonable? Even assuming it isn't 7 straight days.

Rain all week? Sewing EVERY DAY!!

Posted on May 17, 2011 at 9:16am 2 Comments

The forcast is for rain all week, so I'll be taking advantage of the indoor time with sewing. I am still working on 2 new patterns for the Kaleidoscope Smart-Plate (I hope you like them!) I am also working on a commission piece for a 25th wedding anniversary. I used 16 different Hoffman Batiks, all blues in ranges of dark to light and the effect is wonderful.

After a week of sewing, I am looking forward to a sunny weekend spent at the park with my little guy. (and, maybe a little…

Thanks for the link, Sharon. It worked fine and you're right; it's an easy pattern and very cute!  What a clever idea!

Thanks again!

I wish I had a quilt shop that did workshops or offered classes; and I wish for a guild as well!  It's hard living in a small town.  Thanks for the link; I didn't realize you published individual patterns as well.  I love the pyramid pattern...I consider myself an advanced beginner, so I'm not sure I'd be ready for that one!  I've never made anything with sixty degree triangles before.

By the way, I couldn't locate the Santa's Belt Tablerunner....I was looking for a link to free patterns.

Ever since I found this site a month ago I have been spending way too much time on the computer.  Usually I'll spend from 15 minutes to 1/2 hour per day and now I'm on for probably 2 hours a day!  I'm sure it's just because this is all new to me.  I don't belong to any groups, follow blogs, do facebook or anything else, so when this site came along it was just too tempting to pass up!  I joined because I live in a small town and there are no guilds, quilt groups or classes, and I just got tired of being a lone quilter.  I can't believe how many people I've met in the month I've been here!
