I'm so excited! One of my Alliance for American Quilts contest entries is up for auction this week and someone has already bid $50 (starting bid). For more information about the AAQ auction, here's a link: http://archive.constantcontact.com/fs011/1101594196900/archive/1108613702498.html

Well, I guess I'm finally out of my dry spell! I've made several things this past month and I'm back to where I used to be with a few quilts in different phases of completion and one in the planning stage. I'm so glad for this site because of all of my friends and acquaintences here who have encouraged me to get back to it. I thought I'd lost the quilting bug forever! I always go overboard with hobbies only to lose interest after a year of two. But quilting had lasted 6 years so I thought maybe I found THE hobby for me. But when that dry spell hit I just assumed it was just like every other hobby...gone forever. It was so upsetting to me not only because I'd invested a ton of money into it, but because this is the only hobby that has helped me mentally as well. No matter what kind of chaos is going on in my life, when I'm quilting or thinking about quilting nothing bothers me...I feel calm and at peace. So for several months I was pretty much…

Holly Madsen-Rowland said… Sorry it took so long to get back here. I love practicing my long arm and quilting techniques and I watch a lot of youtube. There are a lot of wonderful sites out there.
Judy Dillon Dombrowski said… Hi Bridget,
This is the first time I checked back in at all, and I saw your comments. I am sorry about answering so late, and also that your dream of having children didn't happen. I never thought I'd get married, and then when I did I think my folks flipped as they were in their 70s! I am not a youngster, older that you I'm sure, and I won't stop working for at least 5 years. My daughters are back and forth from living here to moving on so I don't have a room of my own. But I bought an antique dresser 30 years ago and it's full of these baby clothes scraps which I'm sewing together and crazy quilting. I'll be at this project for years! This is because my mom, who was a Depression child, never had nice clothes. So her granddaughters had satins, silks, velour, and a rainbow of pink and purples.
I love the fabrics and the stuff is not only all I have left of their babyhood, it's one of the things my mother gave them. She's been gone ten years and it's tough. So if I quilt the fabric together, they'll have the memories even longer. Best wishes, Judy

Julie Beard said… Bridget, Are you going to email me. I really do miss talking with you. I too have been having a bad time lately. My super company refusing my application to get money out. So I've missed out on getting my new quilting machine and getting my gopher fixed too. Worse thing also my computer died . Thank the goodness for my best friend in Sydney she came up with an old computer and sent it to me. XP Professional. I am hoping it will last out now until I can afford to buy a new one. Please let me know how you are going Julie Beard.
Carolyn Hoxton said… Hi Bridget, I hope things are going well for you. We have been on a dead run, since my father passed away on April 29th, that was a hard day, but a blessing, too, as he was suffering, and it was nice that he doesn't have to suffer any longer. I am hoping to get back to sewing myself, as soon as I can. Take care, Carolyn
We miss you around here, Bridget.
Julie Beard said… Bridget just saying hi. I am thinking of you and Brian. I hope you are hanging in there. My thoughts and prayers are with you both. Julie.
Terri M said… Bridget, I am so sorry for not answering back. On the 23 (my birthday) I got my left knee replaced. Really haven't been on the net too much, or quilting at all for that matter. Again, I am so sorry and thank you for the wishes!
Susan Matthews Robb said… Thank you for the birthday wish. I just read it! It is so thoughtful of you send the birthday wish. Now I have today to think about it all over again. It was great!!
God Bless you
