Summer 2012

This has truly been a summer to remember. I have enjoyed it even though the weather has put an extra burden on those who must work outside. It has caused me to stay inside and quilt just as much as a big snow woule in winter. It has simply been too hot to go outside and do anything else.I have finished several UFOs of my own and done several customer quilts as well. I am really enjoying my HQ Avante and my new quilting studio.I hope everyone has had a great summer and now when winter gets here…See More

I have posted pictures of my new studio and can't figure out for the life of me how to put my comments with the pictures. I guess you will just have to look at the pictures and figure it out.

I am looking forward to the rest of the winter and spending it sewing and quilting in my new room with Iggy.

This site is an adventure for me. Just like quilting something to learn all the time. I don't think a quilter is ever bored.

Rainy Cooler Day

OK this is the weather I have been waiting for. Cold, rain and I am all snug inside my new sewing room, quilting and looking out. It is everything I was waiting for. What a peaceful day.
Today I have decided to learn more about ruler work on the longarm. I am doing some quilting in the ditch and border work. Challenging but also worthwhile. I like how it looks. It is just not as easy as they make it look in all the videos.

I'm still learning the site too, you'll find others just as helpful with that as with sharing sewing ideas. You might try joining or at least following some of the groups eg. longarmers, machine embroiderery, piecing.Riana

Wow Nancy, gorgeous and well-planned workspace (playroom?) I see you have already run out of space in your spool holders, there's NEVER enough pegs. Was this a new addition, or a garage turned studio? Hope you have as much fun quilting in retirement as I am . Riana.

Welcome Quilter Friend!

Just wanted to pop in to say “hello” and introduce myself. I’m Linda Hubalek, fellow quilter and author from Kansas. Books about pioneer women are my specialty, with a cooking or a quilting theme mixed into each historical fiction series.

My Trail of Thread historical fiction book series, written in the form of letters sent back home, describes my ancestors’ wagon trail journey and homesteading in Kansas. Each book mentions twelve old-time quilt patterns, and I put drawings of them in the back of the books.

So if you like to read—besides quilting—please enjoy my blog and book excerpts on my website. Besides printed as paperbacks, my ten books are also available for your Kindle or Nook. (Good choice for Christmas gifts, or yourself, because the ebooks are on sale now!)

I have about a dozen quilts made by my great grandmother, (that we used all the time when I was a kid) so I’m into antique quilts and patterns. What kind of quilts and patterns do you like to work with?

Have a blessed Thanksgiving weekend!

Linda Hubalek
