Hi Nancy,
I read your post about rubber cement. I just learned one method of applique. I was told to use Elmer's school glue, actually the purple school paste, come in a stick. It is washable. It works good and doesn't stain the fabric.
Hi again! Thanks for writing back! Our beagle was a rescue as well...she was about 1 1/2 years old when we got her. Our vet said she had been horribly abused, so it took awhile to get use to her behavior. She's calmed down now that she's almost 6. We've always had dogs and she is the most high maintainance one we've ever had (which is why she is now and only child; she doesn't get along with other dogs).
So, do you belong to a guild or go to any classes? I'm always envious of those who get to be in a guild and I think it would be great fun. I'm really glad I found this place because it's hard being the only quilter I know. No one in my family ever sewed or quilted, but at least they appreciate the work that goes into them. I made quilts for all of my family members first and then I started donating them to various charities. I want to make one for Quilts of Valor. The only reason I haven't so far is that they want either professional quilters or those who make tops. And I like to make the entire quilt myself. But my plan is to do a top. I joined the swap group and for the month of June they are doing patriotic fabrics, so I thought I'd participate and then have a nice variety to use to make a scrappy star quilt.
Well, I hope you'll enjoy it here as much as I have been. I've actually been spending too much time here, but Im sure it's just because it's all new to me!
Hi Nancy! I'm Bridget and I live in Seaside, Oregon with my husband of 28 years and our beagle, Mackenzie. I never learned how to sew, but I taught myself how to make quilts about 6 years ago. I'm so hooked! I sure wish I'd learned sooner, but I was more interested in auto shop than home ec! I've made quilts for all of my family members, and now I mainly make them to donate and to sell. I've been in a dry spell for awhile, which is why I came here. Plus, there are no guilds or quilting groups or classes in my area and I'm tired of being a lone quilter. This is a great place to meet people! Everyone is so friendly and helpful!
Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and welcome!
