I am an elementary school teacher and presently teach Kindergarten. I made my first quilt at the age of 10. It was a nine patch quilt of double knit! I have made several baby quilts here and there and have recently become obsessed with the art of quilting. I can say, "I have been quilt bitten."
How many quilts have you made?
More than 300
Do you want to make quilts, or simply enjoy them?
How long have you been a quilter?
Off and on since the age of 10
What is your favorite quilting technique?
Presently machine piece quilting/free motion longarm quilting . . . getting ready to do some fabric painting and love working with squares and COTTON material presently!!! I am a longarm quilter too!
Why do you quilt?
I just love the beauty of one piece from the start and seeing the end results.
have been meaning to pop in here and tell you i love your new avatar. sometimes i miss it when you post your quilts, but i have found no need to fret as they attract enough attention i'll see when someone posts a comment. i really love your designs and color useages.
Thanks for letting me know you saw my quilt at the museum! I haven't heard a thing about it since it went to live there. I'm sorry they didn't have the back visible, because a lot of people prefer the back to the front. I hope to get down there and visit it myself sometime soon! Thanks again!
The fabrics are sponge painted. I use procian dyes and usually have a pallet of around 30-60 colors working. I sponge the dyes onto fabric, put them in a plastic bag to cure and then wash out. There are no repeats. What I'm aiming for is a landscape with lights, shadows, and a world all its own.
