I'm doing a small study quilt, where the background has three kinds of lettering: laminated paper in thick fabric, laminated paper in transparent fabric and paper-cloth. This will be a monochromatic garden where I will then put a colorful butterfly as a focal…

the rogue quilter said… thank you so much for your compliment. i love traditional quilts. and enjoy making them but there is also the little rogue hiding down deep that says...hmmmm i can do with....too!!! ergo the 'fuzzy blanket' and the satin baby quilts.
all three of the baby quilts were made with washable symphony satin. the backing on all three is flannel. i had not used flannel before in this way and had an awful time with it. didn't realize how stretchy it would be. my dil met the first one with dismay. thought that it had to have special care. i told her no. after the grdaughter bigger it can be a 'drag around quilt'. i am not making heirlooms. i am making for joy, pleasure and to be used. the second grchild got the first heart quilt the second heart quilt with the embroidery went to dearest friends new baby in turkey. the stitching are turkish words ..don't have the translation notes readily avail right now. but the words are beautiful baby etc. the joy of the net. a dutch chat friend who is multilingual helped me with the words.
all three quilts still in use. many many washings. note the pic with the two little ones my son and thier quilts.
the rogue quilter said… hi marganrita. been here and to your blogsite a few times. never commented. my way is to sorta hang out in the corners here and read and ooh and ahh then off to someone else's corner. there are an amazing number of artists like yourself here at mqp. one can derive so much inspiration from the art and ideas and creative solutions on yours and other artists pages. beautiful work. i prefer the traditional style of quilting for my own work. but then my love of charcoal sketching never kept me out of the art museums/exhibits over the years - admiring works of greats like wyeth...and my attitude toward quilt artists like yourself is the same. i may not do....but ...oh my!!! i certainly do admire!!!!!!!!
Anna Reich said… Yes. I made this wall hang last year. Quilt was donated for action to benefit future dog park.It did look great.
Thanks for complement.

Hello Margarita, Andy and I spent two months travelling in Peru. I particularly like the embroidery of the women of Colcha, finding their dresses amazing. I really enjoyed looking at your textiles - they have given me some ideas for my journal quilts - if ever DAvid and Andy give me chance to do any! Kind regards, Linda
Jenny Hermans said… Margarita! I love your paper and cloth quilts... quite inspiring and original. Keep it up.
I too have read This is my words.. and lent it to quilting friends here... the threads that bind quilters are very strong.
Love Jenny
