Hi Linda just here to introduce myself and welcome you to MQP.

Some times we are not sure where to visit on this site but I wanted to let you know that I have a group of gals and I that are doing several different quilts the Blooming Nine and the Jewel Box quilts. We are posting pictures with our choices of fabrics and progress. Carla Walton has done several of the Blooming Nine so she is our administrator. Come on over to view what we are doing at http://myquiltplace.com/group/batik-strip-swap/forum/topics/projects-and-pictures?xg_source=activity.

To do the Jewel Box we have a Batik Strip Swap going on and we are using those strips for the Jewel Box. We recently started up a charm square swap with 5" squares of batiks and cottons so if you are interested in that you can go and join at http://myquiltplace.com/group/charm-square-swap?xg_source=activity. Enjoy!

Linda, to comment back, there's usually a"reply" or "comment back" at the bottom left of each entry, and you just click on that. lf it's not there ( sometimes happens on a tablet or iphone, or if there's not a good wireless reception) you can go to the person,s page ( click on their name appearing in blue, or sometimes their badge/picture), then scroll way down to the bottom of their page ( underneath their photos ,if they posted any)where you'll find the comment box. Thanks for the compliment, you'll get there too , with practice. l find my hoop or my abs floor frame a must for hand quilting, doing it "in my lap" l find my stitches pucker up too much ( though it IS easier to actually exceute the stitches. Have you checked out Orville Roach's page? He's one of the best hand quilters on here. He did a pictorial blog on hand quilting . Good luck...don't be afraid to ask for help negotiating this site. We all help each other here:)

Linda, l had the same problem w/ sewing machine's little acrylic piece. l even tried tying the thing thru the harp w/ piece of selvedge. Finally fixed problem. Bought a cheap Walmart desk ( back to school sale,$ 35.). I cut out the top in size of machine w/ jigsaw. The drawer beneath ,l took out. With a piece of plywood & a few "L" bracketsl made the shelf that the machine sits on. The front is open so l can access bobbin.Maybe you can find a desk at a yard sale .Picture of mine on my page in sewing spaces album...but marine quilt a bit in the way.
