"The block is beautiful. I love the orange and blue combination. I'm afraid this is still beyond my capabilities!"

"I like these types of blocks too, since I don' t have as much time as I'd like to quilt (have to work full time). I would like to see a picture of your block you describe as I am more visual and I cannot picture what you are describing.…"

Combo blocks

I just joined today! One of my enjoyments is making blocks that look difficult, but are really easy or have great tricks to make them, like the 5 and 10-minute blocks.  Here's one I made (no pic yet).  It has 42 pieces and looks complicated.  NOT!Make a 4-2-9 block.Make an exploding pineapple that finishes the same size.Lay the exploding pineapple on the 4-2-9, stitch and cut the pineapple the say way, but on top of the 4-2-9.  When you open it up, it is an amazing block with lots of pieces....…See More

Tell us about yourself
I am a long-arm quilter, both at a quilt shop and at home. I love finding little tricks for piecing quilts, 3D blocks and finding patterns that look so much harder than they actually are. I came up with a pattern for a block with 42 pieces that goes together quickly, like magic! EQ7 is a great tool, too. I enjoy teaching sewing/quilting to beginners. It's SEW much fun.
How many quilts have you made?
Too many to count
Do you want to make quilts, or simply enjoy them?
I make them and enjoy them.
How long have you been a quilter?
I made my first quilt 31 years ago and it was sparse for many years, but about 10 years ago I began quilting most every day.
What is your favorite quilting technique?
quick tricks. I love scrappy, folk art patterns
Why do you quilt?
The Lord helped me through some difficult times speaking to me through the process of quilting, learning to slow down and enjoy the journey He has given me.
