Glee Lalena, I can't believe it's been almost a year since we have conversed to one another.  How have you been!  I suppose very busy getting ready for Christmas.  Laleena, I have made a friend Deeana Davis who is also a member of My Quilt Place she is in love with civil war quilts.  She lives Dove Ar.   I thought I would ask if you could consider asking her to be a friend so she could join your group as she is a true devotee to civil war quilts unlike me!  She is an experienced quilter and actually gives classes to her friends in Dove.  Well I wanted also to wish you and all your family a very merry christmas and happy new year.  From your Australia friend Julie Beard.

Hi Lalena, Thank you for inviting me to be your friend.  What I can see is that you love reproduction quilts and all the history that goes with them.  Yes thank goodness someone one realised I am certainly south of your border!!!! The reason I joined in the converation was with the Craftsy BOM project.  I am currently doing the same as a number of the ladies from your group and I left them a note.  You are the first to rely and make me feel welcome.

I'm an aussie and a beginner quilter. I have only been quilting for just over two years now.  I no longer work due to multiple medical disabilities. So I have become truly addicted to quilting and work on a quilting project every day. I do other crafts like crochet fine lace doily's expert, knit expert, embrodiery, cross stitch and tatting (1 shuttle only).

However, my love is truly in quilting.  I recently finished my first biggest quilt "Roses For Me" at 2.20 metres square that been be given to my Stepmother eventually and that certainly was a learning curve project.  I do plan to make another one exactly the same, however the fabric and colour choice will all be different.  As quilting is so new to me I am unsure in what direction I should follow. I love Art quilts and lead lighting quilts and I love learning to make single blocks.  I have to be honest, I am not really into reproduction quilts at the moment, but I love your costumes and your quilts I looked at your photo's.  I do understand that one day I may take that direction, but at the moment I just love making what feels right for me.

I have several projects on the go: 1) Hexagon Project/Quilt which is all hand made from drawing the shapes and cutting them out to all the hand sewing.  It is certainly my labour of love basically a UFO. 2) My Purple Roses quilt was suppose to be for my mother, but unfortunately she never got to see it.  It's been in a bag now for a while and I can't seem to go there yet.  So its a UFO too! Now for my current project is a quilt for my friend Janine.  I have made so many mistakes in the design of this quilt.  I feel like I have done more unpicking than sewing at the moment.  I have up to date photo's on my page for you to take a look if you like.

Well I think that will do for now. I will understand if you don't write frequently because I really don't follow your love of reproduction quilts, but I would love to get to know you anyway.  Thank you again.  Your new friend Julie Beard "happy quilting"!

Hi Lalena,

I just sent you a friend request but missed the place where I could have put a note.  I do some re-enacting in the Calif. Gold Rush Era Park of Malakoff Diggins(if Calif. keeps it open)  I usually keep the General Store open and do handwork on the porch between visitors.  I saw your pictures and thought Ah hah!  Do you have a video of your presentation?

I should send you pictures of our quilts(which are displayed in the appropriate building of the old town.  I see I am blathering.

We were born in Los Angeles, grew up and went to school there, including USC and UCLA.  During our marriage we moved quite a bit, all around southern California.  I helped organize and was the second president of the Orange County Quilters Guild. The last 15 years we were in San Diego County.

I will go and look at your website.  Our little Sew Sweet Quilters group has been very active in the Quilt Trail movement, and have placed 50 barn quilts so far.  Pretty amazing for a group of 25, I think.

Hi Lalena,

Thanks for inviting me.  I tend to forget about My Quilt Place, which is not good.  Just too much other stuff going on I guess.

I am originally from California, but moved here with my husband when we retired, 7 years ago.  I am part of a small group, the Sew Sweet Quilters, in Jamestown. We have a website http://sewsweetquilters.com

I started quilting in the 70's, stopped for about 20 years, and am back quilting again, and loving it.

I'm glad to learn about the Tennessee Quilters Group, and will have to explore what's going on there.

Hello Lalena, Thanks for the invite. i would love to be friends. I started on the quilters page and then I had some problems and I gave it up for several months. Now I hope Im back.

My latest quilt is a butterfly quilt made out of old handchief i have bought from fles markets. I made my Great Neice one for her doll and it was very cute.I have 20 butterflies folded and ready to sew onto the block.

I have been embroidering blocks for quilts for years. I made one last year and it sold at my second church for 600.00 dollars for something special for their church. it went onto a fund for a big outside cross. when I visit up there now I am proud of that I had a hand in buying the cross. The quilt was Bible Stories. and it made into a queen size. all the others I have given away....What do you work on most?....Verna
