"Joyce, we live in Ontario Canada. There are other with name Noyes in area unrelated. Rest of family was in England, now deceased. My husband's gr. grandfather was author of the famous poem "the Highwayman" that we studied in…"
"Thanks, Riana for the NMSU link. I'm sure it will be helpful. My grandma was a Noyes. Do you live in New England?
Sore neck and shoulders? Get up and walk around frequently ... and don't forget the wine."
"Thanks for the tips. I've done most of them except going up a size on the needle. Will try the top stitching needle. Don't think it's a burr because, as I mentioned, I seem to have the same result on different machines. Will try…"
"I've tried different needles, the last one a quilting needle 90/14. I've tried every aid known to woman without success. I'm sure it's me because I've had the same result on different machines. What's frustrating is I…"
"Absolutely! I love UFO's! There's usually something to suit your mood/frame of mind/ambition or lack of same. Always something to do if you so choose. Seems there's always a group in the guild that wants to start the year with a…"
"I agree Joyce, we should have put our names on too. Lighthouses are my favorite houses, so yours is perfect. Maybe there could be a lighthouse exchange sometime. You might have gotten a block from me with lace and a button…"
"Thanks, Erin, for hosting this swap. I received mine today. I'm sorry the creators didn't put their names and home town on the blocks so I would know from whence they came but they're all very cute. They will reside on my design wall…"
"Erin: Did you get the message from my friend, Marilyn Chapman, that she wants to join the swap and will swap 11? She came to visit me for a couple of days and found the wonky blocks irresistible. She's a fast (and excellent) quilter and I have…"
"Okay. I'm going to try and jump in here now and see if I can get some tips for improving my free motion quilting. It didn't used to be a problem but in the last couple of years I've developed some glitches. Don't think I'm…"
"Wow! I go away for 2 weeks and there's a flurry of activity... finished blocks, almost finished blocks, pictures, comments, etc. How exciting! Glad I got mine off as I have a mountain of wash, a dirty house, and bare cupboards to tackle…"
I've been recruited to assist family out of town for a couple of weeks so I'm going to try and get my blocks in the mail to you before closing today. Knew there was a reason for getting them done early."
"Truthfully, none of my embellished quilts have gone into the laundry. Nice to know embellishments are sturdy but personally I don't like to sacrifice artistic creativity for washability (is there such a word?)."
Tell us about yourself—as much or as little as you like.
Retired. Have taken over master suite as a quilt studio. Hubby very supportive. Belong to a couple of quilt groups. Do some charity quilting. UFO's? I love 'em and like to have several projects going at once.
How many quilts have you made?
Do you want to make quilts, or simply enjoy them?
How long have you been a quilter?
What is your favorite quilting technique?
Why do you quilt?
the creativity, feel of the fabric, colors, patterns, tools ... all fun

Joyce, we live in Ontario Canada. There are other with name Noyes in area unrelated. Rest of family was in England, now deceased. My husband's gr. grandfather was author of the famous poem "the Highwayman" that we studied in school. l noticed in a quilt mag. yrs. ago a lady named Noyes as part founder of an old quilt guild/group in New England. That was a very old photo, say from turn of last century.
I agree Joyce, we should have put our names on too. Lighthouses are my favorite houses, so yours is perfect. Maybe there could be a lighthouse exchange sometime. You might have gotten a block from me with lace and a button doorknob. My granddaughter designed the shapes.
Very precise workwomanship.
I am nearby on the other side of the mountain, about 45 minutes NE of Nevada City, CA.
