What is your favorite method for making Flying Geese? I've just recently started using the folding, 3D, 1 seam method & I love it. What do you prefer?Continue

Okay! I feel like such a rebel! I just used a Sharpie Marker to trace some templates onto my fabric. I'm so fed up with poor marking tools. Nothing else was really working & I'm going to cut…Continue

Terry Crawford Palardy said… Hi Jennifer, I'm happy to meet you here, too. I enjoy machine quilting, some traditional blocks, some simple checkerboard, log cabin, and more recently art quilts with appliques (machine). I've recently tried free motion quilting on the blocks, but found i don't have great hand control for guiding along the lines, so have returned to straight line quilting with the walking foot in control. Some days I rip out as much as I stitch in.
I'm nearly finished the quilting for my niece's pink quilt, and will start tomorrow to bind that. Then comes the log cabin in green and purple for her sister (both of them are being treated for aggressive cancers, both in the mid-forties, and we are heart-broken for them.
I'll begin quilting the log cabin Sunday, but am not sure what (or where) exactly to stitch. It's a very clear, crisp looking top, and I don't want to ruin the geometry of it, so am thinking I'll just stitch in the ditch somewhere in each block. Any thoughts?
I'll post a full picture of the pink quilt tomorrow, if I finish attaching the binding in time. If not, Sunday.
Thank you for inviting me to be your friend here at My Quilt.

Peggy Spry Mislock said… I enjoy all kinds of traditional, Quilts of Honor, applique…you name it. I'm not a fan of contemporary quilts….maybe I just have to develop an appreciation for them. I consider myself an adventurist beginner….but I've been sewing for decades and quilting for at least 10. I think there is more to learn than there are hours in the day. I am pretty good at not having a lot of UFOs hanging around…only 2. And not starting projects that I know I'll most likely lose interest in. I've just finished and shipped off a Quilt of Honor top to be finished and presented and have started a machine applique quilt for my sister that I will piece, quilt and finish. I just don't have time to do everything on my list. How about you?

Dawn Jolin said… Hi Jennifer, nice to meet you too. I enjoy many kinds of quilting. One of my favorites is scrap quilts. I have made several. And right now I have a lot of strips to make many more... :)
Evelyn Boundy said… I am not that cleaver on the computer yet, when I get the body of the quilt done I will try and get some help posting one. :-)
Evelyn Boundy said… Hi Janice I have been quilting for over 40 yrs now and my styles have changed over the years . I used to do a lot of applique, the eyes and hands are not as limber as they once were so I have slowed down there. I enjoy scrappy projects and the new low impact quilts. I am working on the Farmers Wife Quilt Sampler have 23 more blocks out of 111 to do. It has been a huge project and will probably take me the rest of the year to get it to the quilting stage. Nice to have you as a friend. Evelyn
Jamey Herd said… Jennifer, five of those grandkids are adopted and two are by previous marriages. We get together at Thanksgiving and Christmas with twelve of the grandkids still at home. We go to my son's or daughter's because my house is to small for that many people. lol. Yes I am just SE of Springfield about 35 miles. I do most of my shopping there. And yes I have some of my mom's quilts. The nice ones she pieced in later life and the utility ones she made early on. I do have pictures of most of her quilts also. She hand quilted a quilt out just before going into a nursing home at 89. She was 94 when she passed on. It's nice chatting with you and will read your blog more later when I have time.
